Hi everybody!
I wrote up a paragraph on our Backstage Pass event for the "This Month in GLAM" newsletter on Wikipedia. You can read it (or, even better, improve it) at https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/GLAM/Newsletter/December_2013/Contents/…
Heather: I hope you don't mind that I referred to you by name in my writeup! If you do, let me know and I'll delete it. Let me know if you'd me to link it to your homepage!
Everybody else: if you have a better photograph than the ones I've used, please upload them to the Commons in the https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikimedians_at_the_CUMNH_2013 category -- I'll be uploading all the photos I have at our next meetup, whenever and wherever that be!
cheers,
Gaurav
Hi everybody,
If anybody's working on Denver articles, check out this new publication from the DMNS on its own history! I've never been to the DMNS, but if you think it's worth organising a trip to or to see if we could get backstage access, we could give it a shot!

Available online at: http://www.dmns.org/science/museum-publications/ (in Annals 4)

> On 31 December 2013 a comprehensive history of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science has been published. Thirty-two authors have contributed to the 427 pages of the volume that contains a summative history of the whole institution from the very beginning in 1897, and detailed, comprehensive histories of Exhibits, Education, and the Research and Collections departments Zoology, Geology, Paleontology, Anthropology, Space Sciences, and Health Sciences. It is illustrated with uncountable historical photos and illustrations, many of them in color. This will be *the* reference on the Museum's history for a long time, it looks nice, and it reads pretty well (I can say that since as the Editor-in-Chief, I had to read the whole thing). The volume is number 4 of the Denver Museum of Nature & Science Annals and available for free download at http://www.dmns.org/science/museum-publications/.
> It can be purchased at lulu.com, in hardbound and paperback (links given on the publications webpage). As it is in full color, it is not cheap, but probably worth it. We produced a separate edition of the first chapter (summative history) which can also be purchased at lulu.com, in hardbound and paperback.

> The Denver Museum will continue its remarkable journey with the opening of the Morgridge Family Exploration Center in February 2014, a new 126,000 square feet state-of-the-art collections and education facility. Stay tuned.

Hullo from India!
Is anybody going for the National Western Stock Show in Denver
starting in a week? It'd be particularly great to get some photographs
of the longhorn cattle being driven down 17th Street on January 9,
particularly since Wikipedia's one photo of this event was uploaded
seven years ago:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Western_Stock_Show
I can't make it, since I don't get back to Boulder until January 11,
but the details are available at
http://www.denver.org/national-western-stock-show
cheers,
Gaurav
