Dear list,
I will be teaching a free, six week, online course on editing Wikipedia,
with a focus on improving Wikipedia articles related to Open Educational
Resources starting February 25.
We are expecting some participation from medical experts from the
University of Mississippi, and it would be great to have more involvement
from those familiar with medicine and the open education movement. In past
iterations of the course, Lane Rasberry has been a great resource, and I'd
love to have more participation from WikiProject Med!
The course "Writing Wikipedia Articles" (aka "WIKISOO") is offered through
the School of Open, and with support from the University of Mississippi and
the Hewlett Foundation. Co-instructors are Sara Frank Bristow of Salient
Research and Dr. Robert Cummings of the University of Mississippi.
Please join us, and/or help spread the word in your circles!

Dear all,
I just informed Michal that I can't travel to the meeting because of
conflicts with my work schedule over that weekend.
I remain available for a remote talk but if any of you could actually
attend in person, that would be great.
Cheers,
d.

Hi all,
I'm back from a few days by EMMIT2013 in Morocco. If there are no others available / interested, I can see if I can organize my work commitments in the hospital, to go to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_CEE_Meeting_2013.
Cheers

All: I'd like to introduce Sarah Lambert, the Open Education Manager at the
University of Wollongong in Australia. I met Sarah this week at the OER
university launch (see oeruniversity.net) -- she was interested to learn
more about Wikipedia, interested in Lane's project with Consumer Reports,
etc.
One of the courses she has been working on is called "Understanding Common
Diseases" -- a one month online course open to the public, which among
other things has attracted unanticipated interest from small rural
communities.
https://www.open2study.com/courses/understanding-common-diseases
Is there anybody who would like to follow up with Sarah? I think there may
be strong synergies between her work and that of WikiProject Medicine.

Hi user group / thematic organisation!
I am Michal Matúšov, main program organiser of Wikimedia Central and
East Europe Meeting 2013, see
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_CEE_Meeting_2013
I would like to invite a representative from your Wikimedia user group /
thematic organisation to the meeting. The main goal of the meeting is to
fortify interstate and international collaboration between various
Wikimedia chapters, thematic organisations, user groups and other
communities in Central and East Europe and its regions.
We are preparing grant to fully cover all costs of attendants.
If you would like to attend the meeting, please let me know by email. We
prefer people from CEE region who didn't attended international
Wikimedia conference before.
Best regards!
