Thanks Ashwin for your constant support and positive leadership. We were
already thinking of how to not let this buzz down. We are planning
something slightly more amateurish on this article list issue. Maybe
something like a COTM but where we can educate new users. Keep them
suggestions coming, please :)
To all,
I am indebted to Kartik for his poking, prodding and unfailing support
throughout our event. So, whenever you do criticize/suggest things, do
remember that it is *people *who make events or wikipedia work. And, people
are more than just their affiliations to communities. So, let's not please
be unfairly rude or critical of anybody's good efforts :)
Thanks again,
Noopur
(PS. Photos still flowing in, any help with categorizing is appreciated) :)

Ahmedabad 1 Wikipedians deserve an award - definitely
a barnstar each.
But more important, they deserve our time and support.
My way of thanking you guys is to go through two guidebooks (on Google
Books), some websites and some Wikipedia articles and prepare a list
of 87 places of interest around Ahmedabad. You can find this list of
places on English Wikipedia here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:AshLin/Ahmedabad
This will help you to place your images in Wikipedia articles easily
and also indicates where there is an article and where there is not.
Red Links can now be converted into stubs easily. It is possible that
I have not been able to locate some already existing articles for the
red links so checking once again is good practice.
The list is about as complete as I could make it from those sources.
Please feel free to add locations/delete them or to move the
information wherever you want.
Congratulations once again, Ahmedabad Photothon team. Great job done.
Warm regards,
Ashwin Baindur

For those of you who might not be on the India mailing list, you might
want to
consider a similar event in Pune. I know there are some very avid
and passionate photographers in your city and there's some amazing sights
that can be captured.
The Ahmedabad one was planned quite elaborately and it might be useful
to pick
their brains to figure out what can be done and how. (Key contacts
would be Noopur, Anirudh, Srikeit & Arnav; the last 2 are based in Pune!)
Would be great if they could share tips on mobilising volunteers, training
them the basics of Wikimedia Commons, organising the actual event and
managing the back end (categorisation, etc.) as well as challenges they
faced (typically newbie challenges around kinds of images, watermarks,
copyrights, etc.)
Good Luck!

Takes
Ahmedabad. From where I stand, the event has been a resounding
success! Over seventy-five people turned up, both old and young, this
morning, which is no mean feat since it was very cold as well as a working
day.
