Well, that's something we can discuss at our upcoming meeting.
In the meantime, however, we *do* need input from the members on how they'd like us to approach this process -- regardless of who among us wind up implementing their suggestions. So, please, send us your input!
Cheers, Kirill

I don't think that's actually a problem. To state my motives more directly, I want nothing to do with the process but I am happy rubberstamping a candidate that more involved people have researched and evaluated.

That's reasonable enough, but, as I said in my earlier email, this
committee
would need to consist only of current board members, which rather limits
our
ability to do anything creative.

I recommend delegating the work to a committee which will report its selection to the wider board for us to vote.
Who will be on this committee? Certainly not I.

Who from WikiDC will be participating in the selection process? Thanks, -- Bob Platt
Hello everyone,
As explained in the announcement forwarded to this list earlier today (thanks Sarah!), Wikimedia chapters around the world are beginning
the
biennial process of selecting two members of the Wikimedia
Foundation's
Board of Trustees. As an official Wikimedia chapter, Wikimedia DC
will
have the opportunity to participate in this selection process.
Unfortunately, the indications we are receiving from the process moderators is that public discussion of the candidates will be severely
curtailed
by the confidentiality rules currently in place; we will not, for
example,
be able to distribute the list of candidates, or to provide direct question-and-answer sessions between the candidates and our members.
Nevertheless, we intend to do everything in our power to ensure that the opinions and concerns of our membership -- that is, you -- are taken into account during the selection. In support of that goal, we would like to ask that you send us any input you might have regarding the process
and
its desired result. In particular, we are looking for questions that we should ask of the candidates, as well as criteria that we can use to
evaluate
a candidate's suitability for the Board of Trustees.
Please get us any input by March 1, so that we have it available when the candidate question-and-answer period begins. Suggestions may be
posted
to this list; alternatively, if you would prefer provide them privately, you may send them to secretary@wikidc.org.
Thanks, Kirill
