Per this morning's announcement, I've updated our website to use our new
logo and point to http://wikimediadc.org (wikidc.org will also still work).
Also, we're now @wikimediadc on Twitter with the old name @wikidc pointing
people to our new name.
As soon as I get a chance, I'll get around to updating our paper membership
form and anything else I've forgotten.
Cheers,
Katie

Hey Aude --
Sorry about the delay -- I was offline when the voting period ended. Anyway,
congratulations, WMDC was unanimously approved :)
http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Resolution:Recognition_of_Wikimedia_Dis…
Please note that as you know there were procedural issues around the
approval process -- your bylaws were not fully reviewed -- and because of
that WM DC should address in a reasonable amount of time the concerns raised
on meta (
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_District_of_Columbia/Bylaws#S…)
in cooperation with the Chapters committee. Please pass this note on to your
board.

FYI: we are a chapter now!!!
We still need to work on the procedural issues with amending our bylaws.

Reminder that you are invited to join us at the MLK Jr. DC Public Library
tomorrow afternoon, 1pm until ~3pm, to check out our Library Lab "hackspace
for knowledge" space.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/DC_22
Tomorrow, we can discuss any ideas that you think the Wiki Society of
Washington, DC could help make happen -- for Library Lab or just in general.
Or we'd be happy just to have Wikipedians come by and see the space.
Beyond tomorrow, we need volunteers... the sort of projects or activities
that can happen there is pretty open-ended, but could include organizing a
workshop or activity (e.g. how to edit Wikipedia), help scan Washingtonian
special collections, or lead / help with other projects, etc.
We also invite you to simply stop by anytime the lab / library is open, to
hang out with us, bring your own project / work, edit Wikipedia with us,
etc.

Library Lab could be teaching space where guest learn to post to wikipedia,
by using equipment at MLKJ Library Lab, Then instead of complex Field Trips
journalism, just use MLKJ Library resources. Maybe Old Books, Out of Date
for Copyright, yet of intrest. Volunteer Reads book, looks online for info &
if needed, Write own Critical page & include some good illustrations or
photos from work. maybe several books from library shelves & article upon
subject.
so good that 100 other similar library lab projects feed into wikipedia. if
program shuts down at MLKJ Library, maybe apply to Library of Congress for
Room, think available across street from maiin laibrary. Have volunteers get
library reach card, from new library in basement. kind of spify. maybe move
to intown University library at some point & use those resources. if each
person did one aceptable article, after learning how, could work from home &
document some rare book from own collection.
Hoping to attend at least one gathering before new year.
