Hi everybody!
We have created a Participants' Survey for Wiki Loves Public Art, based on the one for WLM.
Please have a look at the Survey and give any comments you might have on the discussion page. Please look at it before Friday as we would like to put it up on translatewiki asap. We will then need your help to have the survey translated to Catalan, Finnish, German, Hebrew, Spanish and Swedish. The translations should be done by the 6th, and the survey is planned to be sent out on Sunday the 9th.
Platonides is kind enough to help us with the delivery of the survey to the participants.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
John

Hi everybody,
James Alexander just wrote to me: "The wiki loves israel website has been compromised and is serving up js scripts files from multiple websites known to distribute malware. I would ask that you also get the other teams to remove that link from all other WLPA sites. I'll send this as an email to you as well."
So please remove the links asap.
Kind regards,
John

Dear everybody,
I have now added a new press release about the contest that you can translate and/or use as a base for your national press release, if you would like.
You can find it here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Public_Art_2013/Transl…
Please let me know when you have sent it out to the media.
Best,
John

Hi!
I have just created this page: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_loves_public_art_2013/Centra…. Please add the text that you would like the admins to change the CentralNotice text into for the last two weeks. I will ask them to do it asap (hopefully they can do it already tomorrow).
I am also preparing an answer to put on Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, in which I am explaining why we want the CentralNotice banner on for the full month (the text will be based on the answers I received from you all). I will email the text to you all shortly so that you can give me some inputs.
Best,
John

Hi everybody!
Wiki Loves Public Art is running for nearly 5 days and we have more than 3200 files by 37 uploaders from 4 countries. Maybe you want some more information about who, what and how many. I made a little page with some statistics: http://stats.wlpa.at/ (It's not on toolserver so I hope it will be more stable and the data can be updated more frequently.)
Best, Ruben
Dear everybody,
One of the administrators on Meta have asked if we could shorten the time the CentralNotice is up for the contest (i.e. the banner on Wikipedia). I have tried to argue against it here but it would be great if I could link to any local discussions about the use of CentralNotice for WLPA (if you have any).
There are a few different ways forward that I see (and I might have missed some!):
Ask him to keep the CentralNotice, based on the argument that I have posted there.Ask him to keep the CentralNotice up but tell him that during the week we will (again?) bring the issue to our respective Wikipedia community and see what the community thinks?
In the discussion with him I suggested that we perhaps could modify the time frame that the CentralNotice is up for logged in users (but keep it on for anonymous user the entire time). What do you think about that?Adjust the time for both user groups a bit. If so, perhaps we could close the CentralNotice on the 25th or something? Is that a good date? Or is it better to close it for a week now and open it the last week?
Please let me know what you think is the best way forward!
Best,
John

Hello,
My name is Angelica Tavella, and I am a student at UC Berkeley that has been doing research on the effects of Italy's Cultural Heritage Protection Laws, and am focusing on Europeana and Wiki Commons (particularly the Wiki Loves Monuments competition).
I was wondering why WLPA is only in a few specified countries? Why not in Italy, or in some other European countries?
Thank you,
Angelica Tavella

Hi all,
I just added a page for the press on the international website (wikilovespublicart.com) and I would like to hear what you all think about it? Now it has the most recent press release in full (with the headline as a link to a pdf version and a section about images that they could use at the bottom. Should there be more information there?
Feel free to use the same concept on the national websites as well!
Best,
John

Hi,
Matthew Roth from WMF wrote to me yesterday and asked if I would like to write about WLPA on the Wikimedia Blog. I am thrilled about that of course :).
He asked about both when I was planning the post(s) and how many
posts I would like to see. I have not given him a formal answer yet, but I am thinking that I will ask for three posts:
One next week giving an overview of the contest and the teams. One post at the end of May wrapping it up (crunching some numbers about number of pics, participants, how much of the lists are now covered etc.)One blog post in July about the winners of the contest.
What do you think about that? Are there any other things that we should write about regarding the contest? I am thinking that I will put up a draft on the portal at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Public_Art_2013/Media… posts so that you all can proofread and help to improve it.
Also, I have added two suggestions for presentations at Wikimania that would focus on the contest. Please have a look and see if you would like to attend them in any capacity :)
