I am very happy for this shortlist, not only because I actually voted for that very inspiring picture of St John Church of Sohrol in Iran, but also because the third winner of POTY 2022 is an image from the Wiki Loves Africa contest. And this makes me really proud of our work :)
Big thank you for the work done by the organizers of this annual recognition process of the quality of our collective work.

Thank you for sharing this, and Florence, thank you for sharing this observation!
To be more precieze, #1 is the winner of Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 (Iran ànd international), #2, coming from Nepal, came in 5th place for Wiki Loves Earth 2021 international, and indeed #3 was one of the submissions from South Africa for Wiki Loves Africa in 2017! Great to see that our Wiki Loves campaigns are so highly valued by the Commons community. ❤
Best, Ciell

Thanks for the insights Florence & Ciell.
Just to add, all the winning photos are already in use on Wikipedia articles. This suggests that they are valued not only by the Commons community but also by the millions of our encyclopedia readers.
Regards.
