Now that sql-s1 is on a new box, my queries are creating a replag that never happened before. For instance, I run a query that creates an ENGINE=MEMORY table based on a join with enwiki_p.pagelinks and another MEMORY-based table, typically takes 10-15 minutes.
I ran this query daily for 1-2 months before the switch, and it never affected replag. Now, replag goes up as soon as the join begins.
(Oh, and I call SET SESSION TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED)
Is anyone else seeing problems like this? Or have an idea how to fix/work around the bug?

as i mentioned in my mail, this could be caused by innodb_locks_unsafe_for_binlog being disabled, which is needed to work around this mysql bug:
http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=39320
(otherwise, certain queries crash the server.)
when that bug is fixed, we will change the configuration back.

Can anyone suggest a workaround? A lot of people (including a couple of projects and a couple of bots) in EN wiki use my scripts and I don't want to put them on hold indefinitely.
I want to do big joins with tables in the enwiki_p database without causing replag on the new sql-s1 box.

i'm told that the fix for this bug is "imminent". i'll integrate it once it's fixed, without waiting for a new MySQL release. hopefully, that won't be too long.
