I don't think there's a lot gained by dropping that, to be fair. Can go with or without it.

I like having "award" right at before the link--that word will get more attention than "international cooperation," imho! Whichever Andrew or Michael decides is fine with me.

Hi guys,
Thanks for your input on this! I actually realized I should not have LGTM-ed (sorry!) so quickly because of redundancy I read. Facebook and Twitter will automatically incorporate the caption into the post itself, so the proposed copy is actually redundant if we were to run with it and not be as enticing.
I think we can run with Lila's quote here to complement the title and the underlying caption copy.

Good eye, Pine. How does this look?
"Wikipedia is one of the most popular knowledge resources in the world; it is read by nearly half a billion people every month. From its humble origins nearly fifteen years ago, it now offers more than 35 million articles in 288 languages—including a number of indigenous languages—all written by volunteers from around the globe."

Good eye, Pine. How does this look?

Hi guys,
Thanks for your input on this!

Ed, just in general I would avoid saying that Wikipedia is written entirely by volunteers, because we know that it's not. There are student editors who may not have exactly volunteered for Wikipedia assignments, and there are paid editors who range from the transparent and ethical to the opaque and dishonest.
Pine
Pine, that's a simplification that has been made by everyone because it's accurate, broadly speaking.

I think that it would be best to emphasize global diversity and drop the implication that all editors are volunteers. For example: "Wikipedia is one of the most popular knowledge resources in the world; it is read by nearly half a billion people every month. From its humble origins nearly fifteen years ago, it now offers more than 35 million articles in 288 languages—including a number of indigenous languages—written by people from around the globe."
