Hi,
I would like to send the French version of WQ 2. Is it ready ? Is there anybody already doing it ?
Also a PDF version, would be nice. Is somebody working on this ?
Regards,
Yann

I don't know about the print version, if that's what you mean "to send". (I don't think it's ready though.) You do know the URLs on meta, and the foundation wiki, yes? If not, here they are: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Quarto/2/Fr-1 http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Translation_requests/WQ/2/Fr:
There's also a new mailing list, foundation-news-l, which will be used to send a html email about Quarto and other foundation announcements: http://mail.wikipedia.org/mailman/listinfo/foundation-news-l
And you could get involved in that through this mailing list or the Quarto talk page on meta: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:WQ ;)
Cheers Cormac
The french version has been on the meta main page for at least 2 or 3 weeks Yannf. WHO are you thinking of sending it to ? I sent quite a bit about them to some journalists already. Just alone. several weeks after publication, I am not sure it is a good idea. For now, noone is on the pdf as far as I know.

That's the problem. 1. It is not clear when it was available. Last I check there still was some untranslated text, and they still are: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Quarto/2/Fr-5 Also the release message was translated yesterday by Ryo. 2. There is no list of people it was sent to.

Yann,
Thank you for your sudden interest in Quarto distribution. If your words were slightly less aggressive, they might find a more receptive audience. The versions of WQ #2 on the Wikimedia Foundation site are "available" in that they are considered complete enough to announce and release. The untranslated interview is no reason not to distribute the French newsletter. The decision to use Aphaia's "release messages" as part of the current HTML email was made two days ago.
If you want to improve distribution (as we all do), please update [[m:WQ/Distribution]] and help us better organize our lists of recipients and the distribution process in the future.

Sorry if my mail sounds aggressive. That's not what I mean to say.

OK. I didn't know that WQ could be distributed before being completely translated.

OK. I will add there list of people I send WQ.

Or, I suppose, you could help with its translation.. ;)
More about distribution, if, no, when this html email ever comes together, we could possibly use this as the release message to the press. Though it's too late for WQ2, we could think about it for WQ3. What say you all?
Cormac
A multilingual release message to the press would be charming, and perfectly in line with the Quarto's spirit. Great idea.

Perhaps a silly question ...

Currently French published version of WQ2 lacks the interview in its own language, but if the meta version (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WQ/2/Interview/Fr) is complete, there is no problem to publish the entire version.
(but not yet, because no current editors haven't upload it to the WMF, though they were the WMF editors, too ...)
Hi Yann! Yes, there are people already doing this; in the past, primarily Anthere and myself. Your input on a list of people to contact, however, would be most welcome.
I've started a page at [[m:WQ/Distribution]]; please add to it. Please do not actually send out any notices until we discuss how to coordinate that on the Distribution page.
Cheers, SJ
