Mediawiki API:Siteinfo

If the in the general siteinfo response (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&meta=siteinfo) 'uploadsenabled' is an empty string, does this mean uploads are enabled?

When ApiLogin was written, in addition to setting these cookies as usual it also returned some of the values needed to construct these cookies on the client. Presumably this was to make things easier for clients that somehow couldn't handle the standard cookie headers. Then CentralAuth came along. Now, constructing the cookies manually would log you in to the local wiki only, without taking advantage of the SUL mechanism. Then T55032[1] happened, and clients that were using the manual-construction mechanism had to update their code because one of the cookie names changed and that wasn't part of the data being returned. And soon, we'll have SessionManager and AuthManager, which will make it possible for login to easily happen in ways that don't involve cookies at all. So it's time to eliminate the pretense that clients can manually construct the cookies instead of handing the standard HTTP cookie headers. Google Code-In (GCI) will take place again in Dec+Jan: a contest for 13-17 year old students to provide small contributions to free software projects. Wikimedia will apply again to take part in GCI. Code Coverage reports

Hey, Now we have reports of code coverage in codecov.io. Code coverage is basically percentage of statements executed during tests comparing to all statements in a package. Right now 73% of pywkibot library is covered but only 10% of scripts are being tested. For more detailed report (per file) see this <https://codecov.io/github/wikimedia/pywikibot-core>. Note that Appveyor tests are not included in the report yet <https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/244878>. Some steps that can make pywikibot test coverage better: * Write tests for scripts * site.py, page.py and pagegenerators.py have noticeable number of missing statements <https://codecov.io/github/wikimedia/pywikibot-core/pywikibot?ref=84f5efd03d…>. Hello everybody, I am Tanu, a third year undergraduate from Indian Institute of Technology, BHU, Varanasi, India. I have had prior experience designing a REST API in Python for which I collaborated to use various APIs available and Beautiful Soup as well as Flask. I want to contribute to pywikibot and am aiming at GSoC'16. Where should I start? What should I do? Thank you for considering, Tanu Hari Dixit.

This affects all bots running on WMF wikis. The Pywikibot task for this is: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T114189 Pywikibot master and 2.0 have been fixed. This is being done to bring the version numbers in compliance with the semantic versioning standard[1]. See the Phabricator ticket for more details[2]. This switch will happen with the 1.27.0-wmf.1 deployment, which started today, and will reach all sites on Thursday, October 1. Jenkins jobs migrated to a new infrastructure

Hello, Today I have migrated the Wikimedia Jenkins tox jobs suffixed with -jessie to a new infrastructure. That impacts pywikibot/core and pywikibot/wikibase among others. In short, the new infrastructure is a pool of Debian Jessie VMs that are discard once a job has completed. It offers your jobs a guaranteed fresh environment and let us tune the pool to scale the infra. Later, we will be able to remove the whitelist and have tests run for anyone proposing a patch. I will monitor the jobs over the week-end.
