Hello everyone,
Hope you're all safe and sound.
I'm wondering if anyone here is working on crowdsourcing?
I'm doing research on how audience participation in crowdsourcing (and citizen science projects) affects notions of (institutional) expertise and authority.
I'd like to discuss this with you if you have similar interests.
Thanks, Aya Sabry

I guess it depends on the definition: pretty much anything related to Wikimedia can be considered "work on crowdsourcing". Do you have something narrower in mind?
Federico
Hi Federico,
Yes, crowdsourcing in terms of citizen science projects undertaken by museums wherein the “public” is invited to participate (through transcriptions or tagging etc). Does this help to narrow it down?
Thanks and sorry for the confusion, Aya

Hi Aya,
I run a crowdsourced transcription platform (both cloud hosted and open source) and have written about/consulted on crowdsourced transcription projects for the last 16 years. I'd be happy to chat or to connect you to other researchers or practitioners in the field.

Hello Aya,
Here at Free UK Genealogy CIO we run three transcription projects (FreeBMD, FreeREG and FreeCEN). I have anecdotal evidence that the family history / genealogy community sees our sites as more authoritative than commercial sites because our transcriptions are better. Most of our volunteers are family historians themselves, so have a vested interest in "getting it right". Plus we have a growing number of quality control tools in place.
Best wishes,
Pat

Thank you all so much for your recommendations and suggestions and sorry for the late reply (have been ill).
I’ll get in touch with a few of you individually for further chats so I don’t bother the rest.
Once again, thank you so much!
Kind regards, Aya
