Hello Open GLAM community!
This email is to announce that the GLAM Wiki: The Culture, Heritage and
Wikimedia Conference will take place in Montevideo, Uruguay, in November
16-18, 2023. Save the dates!
Last week, the Wikimedia Foundation and the Conference Committee approved
our grant application [1] to host the conference in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The event will take place in the School of Information & Communications of
the University of the Republic [2], a beautiful building surrounded by a
public park within a walking distance from the "rambla", a walking path
next to the Río de La Plata River.
Our community has a lot of important topics to discuss in person, from
better supporting our tools for content partnerships with cultural heritage
institutions, to decolonizing knowledge, to more access to capacity
building and networking to grow the next generation of GLAM Wiki
collaborations.
To better engage with the community in the design of this event, we're
offering a launch event, taking place on April 13 at 5 PM UTC. We want to
learn from you! Please register on Meta [3] to receive the Zoom link. We
will be offering simultaneous interpretation in Spanish & Portuguese.
Want to get even more involved? Join our Scholarship or Program Committee.
[4]
Looking forward to seeing you all in beautiful Uruguay.

Hi Folks,
We encourage each and everyone of you to create a program submission. You can submit an interactive workshop or panel, a lecture, a short lighting talk or a poster for our dedicated poster session. Submissions are catered to both onsite and online (live or pre-recorded) or a hybrid combination. We at the Core Organizing Team would like to see a program submission related to GLAM, Heritage and Culture.
The theme for this year's Wikimania is Diversity, Collaboration, Future. Topics that strengthen collaboration on GLAM activities and projects are topics we like to see this year. It is great way to see participants collaborate with each other. There is also a spacious Wikimania Expo space where achievements on GLAM can be exhibited. We also secured partnership with the National Library of Singapore and we see this an opportunity for GLAM enthusiasts to also do a showcase and interact with cultural institutions in Singapore.
For participants joining virtually, we also have allocated online hours for you too to allow you to participate & present.
Session submissions for Wikimania 2023 are open until 28 March.

Dear all,
I am excited to announce that the 2023 Curationist Fellows Program and
Critics of Color Residency Applications are live!
As part of our mission to reimagine culture through a social-justice lens,
Curationist is proud to announce two upcoming opportunities that provide
direct support for research and writing on our platform: the 2023 Critics
of Color Residency and the Curationist Fellowship. *Applications for both
programs are now open until February 1. *
The Curationist Fellows Program
<https://curationist.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6b3f65b8a3901b1b5920d…>
supports
community-based researchers, librarians, graduate students, and university
educators in incorporating cultural heritage resources into their existing
work. We especially encourage applicants from communities underrepresented
in the arts and culture field and applicants whose work may lack the
funding associated with large institutional settings.
The Critics of Color Residency
<https://curationist.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6b3f65b8a3901b1b5920d…>
supports
writers of color interested in arts and cultural criticism. Participants
will draw on the Curationist archive and work with Curationist editors and
archivists to publish writing on our site. This residency is an exciting
opportunity for early to mid-career writers to engage with digital
collections and to have their voices expand and diversify cultural
discourse. The fellowship is generously supported by Critical Minded
<https://curationist.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6b3f65b8a3901b1b5920d…>
.
Residents and fellows may be based anywhere in the world. Each fellow or
resident will be awarded a 3,000 USD stipend over six months, and will
spend approximately 15 hours per month on remote research, writing, and
workshops. Full application details are available by clicking on the links
below.
