Hello everyone! We've a mostly final set of RCs for the Wikipedia app
for iOS and Android. Unless showstopper bugs are found, these shall go
to market in a few days.
## What to test?
- Everything mentioned in
http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/mobile-l/2012-May/005606.html
- Opening references, and using links (internal and external) from the
reference reveal box
- Saving pages, in multiple languages and testing them out.
- Cancelling the spinner when it is in progress by tapping the 'X'
button. Should actually cancel the current request
- Map markers show up properly in Android ICS
- Pinch and zoom for the map across all platforms except Android 2.x
- Back button and history working properly - previously they just kept
taking you back to your current article
- Use the app as you normally would, and report anything that goes amiss!
## How to test?
For Android:
1. Download
http://dumps.wikimedia.org/android/Wikipedia-v1.2RC3.apk
into your Android device
2. Open it in your device to install it!
Note: This build is available from Google Play at
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.wikipedia.beta
For iOS:
If you have not already given us your device's UDID, you need to do
so. Follow the instructions at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Projects/How_to_start_beta_testing_iO…
to get started!
If you have already given us your Device's UDID (yay!) it is much simpler:
1. Download
http://dumps.wikimedia.org/iOS/Wikipedia-iOS-v3.2RC3.ipa to
your computer
2. Connect your iOS device to the computer
3. Open iTunes
4. Drag the IPA to the 'Apps' section of your device
5. Sync
