This past Friday, during discussion with some developers on the Mobile applications, I reorganized the Wikipedia Mobile App and Wiktionary Mobile App into new Bugzilla products and components.
The new product is "Mobile Apps".
Under that are two components: "Wikimedia" and "Wiktionary".
I've also added a new field "Mobile Platform" so that platform-specific bugs could be recorded.
I did this while the developers and I were mulling over a better way to organize the bugs. Let me know what you think about this new arrangement.

Mark, is there any way to change the stuff under OS?
For example:
All iOS Android iOS v5 iOS v4 iOS v3 Android v 4 etc.
Also, what happens to bugs files previously that were related to apps (presumably nothing?).

Correct, bugs have to be moved over for them to correspond to this product/component relationship.

I find this pretty confusing and generally not that helpful. Yuvi and I started talking about this at the hackathon but context switched as new volunteers showed up.
Rather then this approach why not doing it as
Product: Wikipedia App Component: Near by/Bookmarks/Generic
Product: Wiktionary App Component: Word of the day/Distint feature/etc
With this we can actually use components for what they were meant to be : sub sections of a distinct products. Each product should correspond to a 'real-world shipping product' [1] and we don't ship 'Mobile Apps' we ship a 'Wikipedia' app. This would also allow us to have distinct version per product. Requiring all of our apps to correspond to the same versioning makes no sense to me.
