Hallo together,
(i've added some of you already to the related bug report[1], but now this E-mail for information)
Nemo has started a bug report/request in bugzilla/site-requests[1] with the result of a RfC on itwiki (i interpreted "sondaggio" to be like an RfC in english wikipedia or a "Meinungsbild" in dewiki). There is already a change for it in mediawiki-config [2]. I'm happy to see the effort of itwiki community to help us to make editing without login better and get some more input for a limited testing phase on a big wikipedia version with the backup of the community.
This is just an information, that there is a bug and a change, but opinions are welcome :)

Hi good I like this move. We should make sure there is enough help for the new inflow of anonymous editors.

I'm interested to see what will happen here. I hope it proves more successful than photo uploads.
Just to be clear though the Italian community know that this is an experimental feature and thus may have bugs? All of the mobile teams resources are currently wrapped up in bringing Wikidata based interfaces to mobile so who will be the point person for fixing any issues the Italian community report? I'm happy to code review but I can't promise to drop everything to do so :) On 28 Oct 2014 04:37, "svetlana" svetlana@fastmail.com.au wrote:

My italian isn’t the best (i can’t understand it :P), but what I can understand with the help of Google (Translator), the RfC points out, that this is an experimental feature and itwiki would be a wider test-“platform” for this feature to help to improve, find problems and what is a possible user feedback with this feature for all visitors (with a big basis of mobile users, refer to the graphic [1]). Maybe, to make it much clearer for the users using this feature, it would be possible to adjust the “you’re not logged in” message before the user comes to the editor, e.g. to add a note, that this is a test on Italian wiki.
The “who is working on bugs” is a good question :/ First I think it’s good to know, where the problems are to work on it (maybe in the future). I will definitely take a look at the bugs and help providing patches, but for some bugs, maybe, I can’t do for several reasons. I think it would be the first step to have the problems in Bugzilla to calculate what resources are needed to fix them, the fix itself can be made later (in my opinion), after WikiGrok is on the right way.

Thanks, Florian! I was worried that it was just a config change without any corresponding change to the UI, so I'm quite relieved to see the workflow – it could use a few tweaks here and there, but it's good for a test :)

Hi Florian,
I've been out of the office, so I haven't had a chance to test out the proposed workflow here. How does this behave, exactly? At the absolute minimum, for this to go live it needs to give the user a choice to login or edit anonymously (like the patch you worked on for alpha), not just dump them directly into an edit window.
Ideally, on the preview screen, it should also inform the user that they are about to permanently submit their IP address unless they log in -- this is potentially very sensitive information that we don't want users to be surprised to see suddenly becoming public.
Can you verify that these things are in place?

Hello Maryana,
exactly. The config change only force anonymous editing like it is live in alpha at the moment. So the user will still see the edit Cta (login (as most prominent progressive button), signup (as a mw-ui-progressive anchor link) and the new edit without login (as a link like signup)). If the user clicks on "edit without login" he will get a warning, that his actual IP address will be saved permanently in the pages history, which he has to confirm with "Next" to come to the editor :)
So, like the workflow in alpha is live, it will just move to stable and beta :)
Freundliche Grüße / Kind regards Florian
