Greetings All,
We are happy to announce that the CIS-A2K team have been initiated to
develop the Wikisource Android apps for Wikisource reader. Over the last
couple of months, a group of devs from the Tamil language community have
been putting together an Android Wikisource App for us. They have been
finished their POC of the app. In the coming month, we will engage some
developers to develop iOS apps for the same. We think it's finally gotten
to a good state for people to start hacking on it.
For those just wanting to get started here are the links Initial code:

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikisource_Apps How can you help?
In the coming month, we may help to do the following ... * Fork the code
and help us with open bug requests * Critique the code and suggest a
cleanup * Start to hack on new features UI. * Localization for the user
interface
Also, you may comment/suggest/feedback our meta talk page

Namaste everyone,
I am happy to release pywikisource 0.0.4 version. This version has the
following commits:
* Allow to add User-Agent in HTTP requests
* Refactor to introduce __getPageQueryParam method
* Refactor to introduce analyzeRevisions method
* Add async bookStatus method for parallel execution
There are three other minor commits as well. The major part of this version
is parallel execution. In the past versions, we make one request per
second. This was generating Wikisource stats very slowly. Now I have added
parallel execution which provides an option to increase the limit by 100
requests per second. Although for ethical reasons, I set the default limit
to 25 requests per second. But users can easily change the limit.
For usage and contribution,

Hello all,
I have booked an Indic Wikisource Meetup at Wikimania Unconference
<https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2021:Unconference> on 14th August
7:30 PM (IST).
The tables in the Unconference can only accommodate 20 people max. So, if
there are enough interested Indic Wikisourcers, multiple tables can also be
booked for a given period of time, but the inherent structure of the Remo
platform will prevent inter-table interaction among participants, which is
the only disadvantage.
So I would request that Indic Wikisource admins and active proofreaders or
who are willing to participate in Indic wikisource proofread-thon, please
join this meetup. This will fulfill two things.
1) Participate Wikimania 2021
2) Resolve any queries about Indic wikisource proofread-thon 2021 ( Main
Topic)
Regards,
Jayanta
Hello Indic Wikisource proofreaders,
We are happy to announce that the Indic Wikisource Proofreadthon 2021 [1]
is starting from tomorrow 15 August 2021 and will continue up to 31 August
2021.
Like last year, we are facing the devastating effects of COVID-19, we urge
you to stay inside your home to avoid exposure to the deadly virus.
We are also expecting higher participation than the previous contest
We heartily welcome new Wikimedians from various parts of the country to
work on restoring our literary heritage to the digital era. Just like the
previous contest held in November 2020, we again promising to wrap up
everything within the expected timeline after the competition ends. We are
going to keep our promise again. :-)
Welcome you all to the contest.
Regards,
Jayanta Nath

Dear All,
The Centre for Internet & Society (CIS) is seeking applications for the position of Research Associate, to support its Access to Knowledge (A2K) Programme.
The research associate is expected to support the larger goals of the programme, which include growth of Indian language Wikipedias, related Wikimedia projects and the contributor communities. Your primary responsibility will be to undertake research on selected topics relevant to key areas of programmatic work. For the present year, the focus will be on studying challenges and efforts to bridge the gender gap/bias on Indian language Wikimedia projects, exploring possibilities of collaboration with organizations working on building resources related to gender and sexuality, and assisting with a baseline study on Wikisource in India.
Given present restrictions on movement due to the pandemic, this would be a remote, full-time position until further notice. We encourage applications from individuals identifying as women, LGBTQIA+ and of gender non-conforming identity and sexual orientation. The deadline for applications is Friday, August 6, 2021.
Please read the detailed call for applications here: https://cis-india.org/jobs/call-for-research-associate-access-to-knowledge-…. & https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CIS-A2K/Team/Join.
Thanks and Regards,
Jayanta Nath

Hi Indic Wikisource Community,

initiative, where Indic Wikisource contributors, especially newcomers could
come with his/her queries, doubts and training. I,myself will share my
knowledge and skills with each contributor and clear confusions. It will be
done online on a 1:1 basis, so it is just the right time to participate
there if you have not planned to do so.
So please apply here
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Indic_Wikisource_Helpdesk/Intensive_Persona…>
and book your slot for training. Kindly come and take advantage of this
