Greetings all: I'll start off by explaining that I'm attempting to "pick up the pieces" of a wiki drastically changed by my boss who has now departed the organization, so I apologize in advance if some knowledge is beyond me. I'm in the process of upgrading MediaWiki from 1.31.10 to 1.35.0 due to 1.31.x going end-of-life next year. I've successfully migrated everything, only needed to upgrade a few extensions, but one item I'm unable to figure out is the Foreground skin, which my boss used as default. I can't go back to the previous formatting without crippling the formatting, and I can't seem to get the skin to format the way it did in 1.31.x. Specifically, it seems to ignore DIV commands, and the touch-button features are no longer active, so everything just aligns on the left part of the page. Even in the preferences page of my user ID, I can't click on "appearance" or any of the other tabs. I have upgraded to the 1.35.x compatible skin, but there's obviously a configuration setting that has changed from 1.31 to 1.35 that I'm unaware of. Any advice would be appreciated. I've included code from my main page to show what formatting is being used. Again, apologies in advance if I'm missing something obvious-I am trying to "drink from the fire hose" here..

What version of Foreground and is it possible your boss changed some code in Foreground. There was reported recently an issue with right and left of images. MW apparently changed some image output wraps/classes or something.
If you backed up the entire wiki including the database now would probably be a good time to restore to 1.31.10. It is supported until next June until some of the issues are addressed.

Foreground version is 2.3.0. It seems to be affecting all DIV and tables in the entire wiki. Even the simplest tables don’t draw. I’m not aware of any code changes but he did this while I was out having surgery so anything is possible.
Good news is this is our test server that I’m abusing so the production server is chugging along with 1.31.10 just fine. :)

Hi all
I also just upgraded from 1.32 to 1.35 and the skin to its latest version. All images stubbornly align left (and the category tags look bad, but that is a minor issue). Also posted about that on the github page. Might be some core changes in 1.35 regarding the skin engine that need adapting?
Best, Seb

It’s compatible now. Please check GitHub for discussions and the new version. You might want to test the pr changing to a pure css for icons too.

It must be something native to my wiki then, which I’m not surprised at. My former supervisor loved to tinker with things and then not document them and now that he’s gone I can’t seem to get the upgrade to go through. Had table re-draw issues the first time and the second time (yesterday) I’m getting “Magic Word lst” errors-thinking transclusion extension may need to be updated.

I’ve successfully migrated everything, only needed to upgrade a few extensions, but one item I’m unable to figure out is the Foreground skin, which my boss used as default. I can’t go back to the previous formatting without crippling the formatting, and I can’t seem to get the skin to format the way it did in 1.31.x. Specifically, it seems to ignore DIV commands, and the touch-button features are no longer active, so everything just aligns on the left part of the page. Even in the preferences page of my user ID, I can’t click on “appearance” or any of the other tabs. I have upgraded to the 1.35.x compatible skin, but there’s obviously a configuration setting that has changed from 1.31 to 1.35 that I’m unaware of. Any advice would be appreciated. I’ve included code from my main page to show what formatting is being used. Again, apologies in advance if I’m missing something obvious-I am trying to “drink from the fire hose” here..

Hi Vivian,
thanks for confirming that it works with 1.35.x without issues.
I have seen many changes in the codebase made during 2020 for the upcoming 2.4.0 release which are waiting to got to the public. It may be worth doing a release.
Cheers, Karsten
