*Dear all,I am excited to inform you that the African Wikimedia Developers
Project (AWMD)
<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Africa_Wikimedia_Developers_Project>
<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Africa_Wikimedia_Developers_Project>[1]
will have its second training session in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. This event
was made possible thanks to a close collaboration between Wikimedia
Community User Group Côte d’Ivoire (WCUG-CI) and Open Foundation West
Africa, along with other local partners.From February 16 to 17, around 25
developers will learn how to improve or develop on the Mediawiki software
as well as the overall technical infrastructure of Wikimedia projects.
Following the training session in Accra last year and its encouraging
outcomes
<https://blog.wikimedia.org/2017/10/19/african-wikimedia-developer-community/>[2],
the step of Abidjan intends to build on the lessons learned so far and
continue to expand the volunteer community of the Africa Wikimedia
Developers Project (AWMD). As a reminder, AWMD is a project that focuses on
recruiting volunteer African Developers for the benefit of the Wikimedia
Movement. Its main goal is to increase the number of volunteer developers
who can solve related Wikimedia issues on the continent and in the movement
at large. Stay tuned for more updates soon!Cheers,*

Hello guys,
I Here come to invite all of us to be present at the next AWMD IRC meeting
that will hold today 16th Feb, as the topic of discussion might interest
many of us. As mentioned said in previous mails, Wikimedia was selected for
the GSoC and Outreachy programs. So that will be the main point addressed.
When: *16th Feb, 2018*
Time:* 4pm - 5:30pm* UTC
Where: *#wikimedia-dev-africa* on Freenode
For those still having questions and doubts about the Google Summer of
Code(GSoC) and Outreachy program, do well to express them during the
meeting. Also, Shrishti, The GSoC and Outreachy admin for this round will
be present at the meeting to address them and give some guidelines on to
how prepare for the program and/or how to volunteer as a mentor.
For the mean time do well to select a project of interest.
You can find the meeting agenda on this phabricator ticket
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T184834>
You can also find a list of accepted Wikimedia projects here
<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/2018>
You can have steps to follow for application process here
<https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/Participants#Applicati…>
Looking forward to meeting you on IRC.
Best regards,
*At your service,*
