Lori & Merrilee,
Thank you much for responding.
In particular, with respect to the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC), they have some works in
their collection by Ray Yoshida. He taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago
(SAIC) & was originally from Hawaii. In fact, my son received a Ray Yoshida
scholarship<http://www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/search/node/?keys=R…
to study at SAIC.
I learned that AIC has some Ray Yoshida works donated by the Kohler Foundation. I checked
with the Kholer Foundation & found that they had also given the copyrights to AIC.
I would like to get some representation of these works into Wikimedia Commons, so that we
can have some images on the
en<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Yoshida> &
nl<https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Yoshida> Wikipedia articles about Ray Yoshida.
I thus was hoping that I could work with someone from GLAM who already had a relationship
with AIC who could assist me with this.
I visited the Barnes Foundation last summer & was overwhelmed by their collection. So,
Merrilee, if you could put me in touch with PACSCL, that would be great. I am a part-time
reference librarian at Hawaii Pacific University, so that would be a good fit.
Merrilee, I see that you are with OCLC research. I wanted to let you know that most of my
work with Wikipedia is with citations, & I use
Wordcat.org & the |OCLC= citation
parameter extensively.
Lori & Merrilee, please contact me off-list. I just wanted to say
Mahalo!<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahalo_%28word%29> in this public forum.
Yours,

…I’ll add to that that I have contacts with the library and archives at both the Art
Institute and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I know if there was a Wikipedia
collaboration opportunity with the larger organization the library & archive would
love to be part of the discussions from the outset.
In Philadelphia, there is a great organization called PACSCL – the Philadelphia Area
Consortium of Special Collections Libraries. They are a fantastic group and have done some
really amazing collaborative work together. They have worked through a number of projects
to collectively identify their highest value collections (from a research perspective) and
are now working to put a spotlight on those collections through cataloging and
digitization. As an organization, they would be very well positioned to work with a local
group of Wikipedians. I’d be delighted to put you in touch with a few people there,
especially if I knew a little more about your interests. The library at the Philadelphia
Museum of Art is part of that group, as is the Barnes (I have no special contacts at the
Barnes). Shoot me a line off list if you’d like me to follow up.
Best,
Merrilee

Hi Ray,
I have a friend and colleague at the Art Institute of Chicago who is part of the digital
team and has expressed interest in a Wikipedian in Residence or some other GLAM project in
the next year. If you want further details you can check with me off-list. There's not
much to report out publicly.
In regards to the Barnes Foundation, I don't believe we have any sort of formal
contact with them, but we do have active GLAM-Wikimedians in the Philadelphia area, as
well as a number of other GLAMs who have begun or who have expressed interest in
partnerships (the Philadelphia Museum of Art, most notably.) Peter Ekman and Jake
(Ocaasi).
Thanks!
Lori

I live in Hawaii, so it is a little difficult for me to have a relationship with them,

Similarly, is anyone working with the Barnes
