Indeed the first answers on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Labs/Toolserver_features_wanted_in_Tool_Labs seem to indicate that all tools and services currently on Toolserver will just be trashed and people forced to reinvent them from scratch because a completely different approach is thought to be better.
