I'm unsubscribing from the xtools mailing list. Too much spam, and what
little conversations we do have on here we should probably have on-wiki
anyway.
I assume there's at least one more list admin?

Hello there,
I code in PHP, Javascript and Python and have a specific 'want', which
is to improve the xtools gadget
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Hedonil/XTools> browser
plugin-like thing (which I think will involve the file xtools/api.php)
that currently shows revisions/authors etc. so it can show more data on
hover dropdown (like top 10 authors). I've been using this gadget for a
year, and it still works but I notice that the full page statistics and
pageviews links no longer seem to work.
I don't know much about the current state of these tools, but I may also
be up for making some other contributions if needed, depending on their
complexity.
I've had a brief look over the mailing list archives and it looks like
there is some dissatisfaction with the old code and a rewrite is in
progress? (I see the xtools-rebirth repo on github). If someone could
give me a brief overview of what's happening with xtools and where
things are going that would be great, and an idea of how I can
contribute my idea.
You know, I never thought I would do this, but I am now. I am officially dropping my role as an xTools dev. I no longer have an active desire or the needed time to play around with the convoluted, and obfuscated code. The are many reasons I have come to this decision. The first reason is that xTools requires a great deal of person's time which is something I'm lacking. I only have time to do smaller things, like maintain code I developed, aka Cyberbot and Supercount. Another big reason is that I progressively lost my drive to put in effort to these tools for the past few months. For the past few months as I engage with email and on wiki conversations regarding xTools with Kudpung, I felt more and more like a useless piece of shit. I don't want feel useless or be useless. So I am moving my focus elsewhere, where I can feel useful and needed.
I will continue to actively maintain Cyberbot and Supercount, and will continue to remain active on Wikipedia, but my activities here, on xTools, will be severely reduced. I will stick around to address needed webservice restarts, and to provide an opinion of one is asked.

Hi guys. I've been working on fashioning up the new file and classes for a
more organized and less dependent code structure.
T13, do you think you can dig through the edit counter and articleinfo codes
and fetch me all the queries each use to gather the needed information on
both the database and API?
Due to the fact my grandfather just passed away last night, needless to say
I am emotionally unsound. As such I will be away from Wikipedia, for the
most part, until I feel better.
MusikAnimal, if you could watch my talk page for me while I'm out, I would
greatly appreciate it. Feel free to slap notices on there as you see fit.

I'm sorry about your loss. My deepest sympathies. T13
