Hi All!
We have found a great Wikimedian, Harmonia Amanda
<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Harmonia_Amanda>, to lead a session
about Wikidata since so many of you expressed interest in learning more.
However, it would be great to know what specifically you'd like to learn!
She can give an overview of the basic uses of Wikidata and how you can
apply it to your work addressing the gender gap.
She can also review a number of tools that work with Wikidata. Here is a
list of tools she can teach:
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Harmonia_Amanda#Tools
If you have specific requests, please let us know so we can help tailor the
sessions to your needs.
Cheers,
Alex

Dear all,
I hope you are very well.
We are already very close to the start of WikiWomen Camp and we want to
invite you to respond to this last form to be able to define the latest
logistical issues - which are also extremely important :).
You can find it here
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeJcQd-Q217_W-cUFxw_5m9L0I6i6XH7Md…>
and we ask you to do it soon!
On the other hand, we would like to inform you that the event page is ready
on meta <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiWomenCamp_2017>. There you
will find all the information about Mexico City on the section "Travel
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiWomenCamp_2017/Travel>" as well as the
name of the hotel, how to arrive, etc.
We also want to inform you that in the coming days we will send you a
welcome/information pack with all the information and most important
telephones for your arrival and stay during the event in Mexico City.
On behalf of the WikiWomen camp team we thank you in advance for your
support and collaboration.
We are waiting for your answers to continue working on these final details!
Hugs

Dear WikiWomen participants,
We have some news about the programme
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiWomenCamp_2017/Programme>:
a- The day 1 we would have a lighting talks' session to get familiar with
the different projects you are carrying out. For organizing this session we
encourage you to add your name and give us your feedback on this page on
meta <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiWomenCamp_2017/Participants> *by
June 22nd.*
Please note that lighting talks can also follow a PechaKucha format[1].
In case you don't want to present a lighting talk just leave the field
empty. However, we strongly encourage you to submit one: your ideas and
projects are what are going to make this conference great!
b- We would like to end the 2nd day with a session where some of you would
present projects/learings/challenges etc. more extensively. For those, we
are opening a call for proposals. *The deadline for presenting your
proposal would be next Thursday, June 22nd*.
*What would you need to send to us by the deadline?*
* Name of the presentation
* Abstract -150 words
*To take in mind:*
* Must last 30 minuts as max.
* You can send your proposal to this email or to de(a)wikimedia.org.ar
Again and as reminder, please fill the Meta page for participants
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiWomenCamp_2017/Participants> and
remember that the deadlines for theses requests is June 22nd.
Thanks in advance for all your work.

Hi friends attending WikiWomen Camp!
To those of you I don't yet know, hello! I am Katy, and I lead the Community
Resources <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Resources> team at the
Wikimedia Foundation. I am thrilled that you will be joining the WikiWomen
Camp in Mexico in July. We are well into the planning. I am confident it
is going to be a fabulous event!
I have a few requests for you, to prepare us all to take advantage of our
precious three days together.
1. *Please add your name and answers to the questions on the participant
page of the conference portal
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiWomenCamp_2017/Participants>*! There,
kindly answer questions about what you want to learn, what 5 min lightning
talks you want to give, and what on-wiki skills you want to learn. This is
information we need to design the best possible event for all of us!
2. Visit and contribute to the resources page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiWomenCamp_2017/Resources>.
3. A reminder that this event will follow a Friendly Space policy
<https://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Friendly_space_policy>. Take a look
at that page and review the policy.
This event will be most successful if we all come prepared to contribute
and to learn. We know that networking is important to participants, so we
are getting started now on the portal with introductions, and identifying
skills, projects and opportunities for collaboration.
Finally, I want to give a big shout out to the organizing team: María
Sefidari, Carmen Alcázar, Anna Torres, Iván Martínez, Kacie Harold, and
Alex Wang. It takes a village to organize an event like this! Thank you for
all you've given to organize this so far.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Mexico City!
Un abrazo,
Katy
Hello travelers,
People who need to be reimbursed for visa fees (including travel to your
closest embassy) or reimbursed for flights they paid for themselves need to
submit a request for reimbursement by June 15th. This deadline is not
flexible.
1. Fill out the attached expense report form
2. Make a PDF of reciepts included in the expense report form
3. Fill out a bank information request form
4. Email these documents to accountspayable(a)wikimedia.org and
kharold(a)wikimedia.org
After the conference, you can request reimbursement for the cost of airport
transfers and meals during travel, but you will not be able to request
reimbursement for visa fees or flights.
Best,
Kacie
