Hello,
We are glad to inform you that Project Tiger 2.0/GLOW is going to start
very soon. You know about Project Tiger first iteration where we saw
exciting and encouraging participation from different Indian Wikimedia
communities. To Know about Project Tiger 1.0 please see this page -
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Supporting_Indian_Language_Wikipedias_Progr…
Like project Tiger 1.0, This iteration will have 2 components
1. Infrastructure support - Supporting Wikimedians from India with
internet support for 6 months and providing Chrome books.
2. Article writing contest - A 3-month article writing contest will be
conducted for Indian Wikimedians communities. Following community feedback,
we noted some community members wanted the process of article list
generation to be improved. In this iteration there will be at least two
lists of articles a) Google-generated list, b) community suggested a list.
Google generated list will be given to the community members before
finalising the final list. On the other hand, the community may create a
list by discussing among the community over Village pump, Mailing list and
similar discussion channels.
We request you to go through these pages to know more about Project Tiger
2.0/GLOW

2.

two-three days.

Subject: [Wikimediaindia-l] Farewell from the Centre for Internet and
Society
To: Wikimedia India Community list <wikimediaindia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Dear Wikimedians and friends,
As some of you might already know that I have left from my position of
Community Advocate at the Centre for Internet and Society. My last working
month with CIS was June 2019. I am taking a breaking from professional work
to focus on my higher studies. I joined CIS-A2K when I was on my first year
of the college and now I have recently graduated as a Mechanical engineer
:D
My journey with the CIS-A2K in the last 3 and half years were great, I had
opportunity to work closely with Odia and Santali community, and also had
opportunities to collaborate with many Indic Wikimedians on different
projects. I also got to meet many of you during various national and
international conferences.
I would like to thank everyone in the movement for all their support and
love they have given to me, especially to my team at the CIS-A2K and the
Odia Wikimedia community. I worked under both Tanveer and Tito, they were
always supportive and have had encouraged me to work on different projects
and collaborations, from working with media houses, educational
institutions, Government of Odisha, UNESCO and others.
I will be still within the Wikimedia movement wearing different hats. This
is my personal email address, feel free to reach out to me anytime over
here or on social media channels.
Dhanyabaad! :)

To: Wikimania <wikimania-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Cc: Wikimania Steering Committee <wikimania-com(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Wikimedians!
The Wikimania Steering Committee is delighted to announce our
recommendation for Wikimania 2020 to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, as a
collaboration among chapters in the region. This is a new model we are
exploring with a team of chapters and user groups from the East Southeast
Asia and Pacific (ESEAP) region. We are looking forward to assist with
organising one of the events we use as a platform to bring the sum of all
notable and verifiable knowledge to the world and – most importantly –
discuss, develop and dedicate ourselves to all things Wikimedia.
The Wikimedians in Thailand user group has been around since 2008 and
recently applied for chapter status. In addition to this, ESEAP recently
held a regional conference where they successfully emerged as a working
cooperative. We are grateful for the continued work these combined teams
are putting in, making this a genuine coalition in the ESEAP region.
We would like to thank the Wikimedians from Perth, Bali and Armenia, who
offered to host Wikimania. Organising Wikimania is hard work, and for this
we are grateful and appreciate anyone willing to do so. As always, we feel
privileged being part of a movement where people competently step up to
make this a successful convening. We believe that bringing together an
ESEAP coalition to host the event will provide representation the region
deserves. We believe they will do a great job.
The Wikimania decision process has been changing for some time and we will
be taking steps towards more transparent and sustainable processes. Bangkok
was not one of the original proposals received, but the committee felt this
location represented an excellent opportunity to make Wikimania a regional
and collaborative effort. The city was deemed a good location due to a
number of factors: visa-friendly, travel-wise accessible, reasonably priced
lodgings, plenty of universities and GLAM institutions are some of the
characteristics that make this city a strategic location to welcome a large
cohort and continue to expand our movement.
We are also happy that Joël Letang (event team manager at Wikimedia
Foundation) and Isabel Cueva (events program manager at Wikimedia
Foundation) will contribute to the organisation of the event. You can meet
Joël and Isabel this August in Stockholm at Wikimania 2019.
We would like to congratulate and thank the ESEAP coalition team for the
time and effort dedicated in making Wikimania 2020 a success!
Iolanda Pensa / iopensa on behalf of the Wikimania Committee and the event
team at Wikimedia Foundation

> This video is the result of a pilot project within the framework of the Community Capacity Development[1] program at the Wikimedia Foundation. It was led by Asaf Bartov[2], from the Community Development team, with the active involvement of an advisory committee made up of experienced OTRS and Commons volunteers. The script development and video production were done by contractor Victor Grigas[3], and reviewed by the advisory committee.
>
> The video is intended to be useful to OTRS agents, Commons volunteers, and Wikipedia volunteers in various languages, for helping non-Wikimedians submit media via OTRS. It is hoped that being able to refer people to the video, in whole or in part (to the introduction plus a specific scenario, perhaps), would save at least some of the very common back-and-forth correspondence many OTRS agents have to conduct with non-Wikimedian contributors struggling to understand copyright and Commons norms.
