Guys,
I have been silent watching in hope that someone will come up and say something about the state of the Kenyan chapter. While we decided to disband the board, we did not agree to kill the chapter. We have a lot of things to achieve and we need to bring back the fire that was the Kenyan chapter.
I would like to suggest a meetup to discuss the way forward, who is with me and what is the best day to get this up?
Thanks for restarting the conversation, David.
I'd like to encourage you all to think about what you would _like_ to do. What is the one activity you would be inspired by and proud to take part in? Once we hear where your energy leans, we can work together to make it happen.
A.

Hi David, All;
I'm all smiles to see that the spirit still lives on. A meetup ain't a bad way to light it up, not at all.
Great to hear from everyone.

Guys,
We worked for almost 2 years even without funds to make this chapter happen. It is time we go back to the original zeal and push for this to happen better and bigger. Currently, we do not have any cash or budgets, but I believe we need to meet urgently and decide on the way forward.
I need suggestions on dates so that I can talk to either iHub or Nailab for a venue. Meanwhile, Alex please update us on the state of the registration, that way we also have a legal entity to work with once we decide on the way forward.

While I support a new start, I'm sorry to tell you that all my Saturdays and Sundays for the rest of the year are fully booked already (it's just that time of the year for a family man with kids in two different schools). Please go ahead in my absence; I'll be with you in spirit!

Nice one David, I think we can start by planning a revisit to Kamiti as we had planned. I suggest we meet next Month if that is OK with the Team members. Cheers

Sorry for the long silence guys, I've been really caught up with stuff; that aside, I'll have an uipdate from the lawyer next week as we haven't yet met.
As for the meetup, I can help set it up minus the venue. From the last one we had, I remember we had deliverables and one that was pretty clear was of the chapter membership to produce more drivers meaning more answers than questions/comments something which I think hasn't worked out as of now. Don't get me wrong, the questions are welcomed but we are at a point that we can't afford not to follow-up with solutions.
So my suggestions would be to have stuff done during the meetup instead of discussions/assigning roles to be completed later since clearly, that isn't working.
With that said, I'm available for a meetup on any weekend between now and the 1st of Dec.
cheers, Alex

Love to be there but I can't sorry. However, is it too early to discuss how to make sure we are ready to deal with the 2013 general elections on Wikipedia? There's gonna be a huge influx of new info (poll results, court petitions etc) that's gonna come through in really short notice and I'd like Wikipedia to be a good up to date place for folk to keep track.

Guys,
We worked for almost 2 years even without funds to make this chapter happen. It
is time we go back to the original zeal and push for this to happen better and bigger. Currently, we do not have any cash or budgets, but I believe we need to meet urgently and decide on the way forward.
I need suggestions on dates so that I can talk to either iHub or Nailab for a
venue. Meanwhile, Alex please update us on the state of the registration, that way we also have a legal entity to work with once we decide on the way forward.

I would like to suggest a meetup to discuss the way forward, who is with me and
what is the best day to get this up?

Politically a good idea but please remember that wikipedia is not wikinews. News articles trying to keep track of the elections will in all probability be deleted by the administrators.

Hadn't finished that.... So I think we should have 1st Dec for the meeting. Is everyone OK with that? Mugo, do you think you can get a space by then?

That's right. A better approach would be to improve coverage of _topics_, e.g. [[Education in Kenya]], [[Economy of Kenya]], and whatever happens to be hot topics in this coming election season, as well as articles about the most prominent politicians involved, i.e. covering their _record_, relying on external sources, and being very careful not to interject your own opinion.
Cheers,
Asaf
