Hi all, I've tried to upload to the Wikimedia Kenya page (under Projects) a pdf-version of the Wikipedia for Schools User Manual which Limoke sent us on this list. However, all I got was an error msg: "The upload directory (public) is not writable by the webserver." When writing in the wiki-edit pane, the screenshots of the document disappear. Anyone more computer-savvy than me able to help? Thanks, Oliver (aka BT)
Hi BT. The only people to help us here are Asaf or Manuel. I have tried uploads in Wikimedia Kenya before (even photos) but it seems the page is set such that it does not support uploads. The only way out seems to be uploading it to Commons, I don't know if that is a good idea

Hi,
well, most pictures would make sense to be available on Commons as well.
You can use all files from commons as if they were in the local wiki - no need to upload them on two places.
The wikimedia.or.ke wiki integrates Wikimedia Commons such as the Wikipeas do.
On another note, uploads are fixed.

Sorry, that was my fault. Such things happens if an admin sets up a wiki instead of using the regular FTP user account ;-)
It's fixed now.

Thanks Manuel. We always appreciate your efforts

Thanks, Manuel! In the meantime, I've uploaded the pdf-file to Wikimedia Kenya's page on Meta. Gotta run now - if noone else will have transferred the file to wikimedia.or.ke by the time I get back online, I'll do it. Oliver (aka BT)

I have now uploaded the manual to the Wikimedia Kenya site under Projects (http://www.wikimedia.or.ke/Main_Page#Projects). I've also added a brief summary of our chapter mtg on Feb 26. Feel free to move that to a separate page if you feel our main page gets too cluttered. Oliver (aka BT)

Hi Emmanuel, Good to finally see you here!!!! For sure, the 32bit version works perfectly fine on the x64 OS given that there is support of x86, so there is no need for any kind of emulation. Emmanuel, now that you are here I should tell you this: The kiwix installer doesn't seem to work properly. During installation some files are extracted to the installation directory well, but some other core files are missing, top of the list being the kiwix.exe which is the main file. However, the option of just extracting the portable directory also included in the binary into the computer and running the .exe directly from the folder works fine and it is the one we have decided to adapt.

This bug is something new for me.
Is it also the case with the last unstable version? http://download.kiwix.org/bin/unstable/
If yes, would be really nice to make a bug report, with a step by step description that we may try to reproduce it, at: http://reportabug.kiwix.org
Thx you very much for your feedback. Emmanuel

Yes it works perfectly with the 64 Bit version with a support of x86...which is actually the kind that is mostly used so i guess its ok. I also think that because there is the option of just extracting the portable directory and running the .exe directly from the folder and it works fine, i think that can do for now.
