Well thought of, that makes a lot of sense all together! Having the contest in November/ December will make it quite not a success, come to think of it! Pushing it to January on the other hand makes some good sense out of this.
Similarly, I'd suggest we use November/ December to market the contest instead then come January, 'execution'' will be the key word!

Hello folks,
I personally think that doing the contest in November/December is not a good idea since most students will be doing exams. I think that doing it in Jan would probably result in an increase in participants.

hi, on the duration of the competion, i think 1 - 2 weeks would be fine but
then
encourage the participants and WMKE members to continue uploading
photos
after the competiton because we are sure to miss some important
structures..
the tom mboya statue for example, which has been hoisted but is yet
been
unveiled.

Hi Nice people,
We had planned to undertake this project in the future.
The future arrives one day at a time and from my PVT conversation with Alex, we have up to three weeks to wrap up the preparations and thus the launch of this ginormous project just before the end of October.
On that note consequently, a budget has been prepared by a portion of interested WMKE members and we would like to have your suggestions in the following areas;
• How long should we run the photo competition??
Bear in mind that; Some teams in Australia had more than 1 GB of photos yet the competition was run for only a single day. For our case here in Kenya running the competition for a day might not even scratch the surface of our targets just an example.
• What are the proper awards for the 1st prize, 2nd prize and the 3rd prizes?
The prizes should proportionate the efforts that you universally consider sincere. I.e. we cannot seek a sponsorship to Wikimania 2012 from the WMF for a winner who only took photos for only a day – for you to go to Wikimania I think you are in better shape if you know how to edit Wikipedia and wikis in general, just a case in point.
• To make sure we not only preserve the guys who partake in this photo contest, we also plan to teach them how to edit and become wikieditors, we shall run an article writing competition later after which we can now award a single ticket to Wikimania 2012 for the best article which ought to be of a very high quality.
Your opinions of how to make this take place are highly longed-for and revered.
Regards, Stephen.
