Team, The idea of mtg at different stations is quite brilliant esp for us in the 'diaspora'. However for this saturday i will be out of the country till 8th May so wont attend but i look forward to more of these 'editing' business and much more. Besides am really learning connectivity issues and freeware...think it was a good idea joining WikimediaKE!
Chris will update me on the on-goings of the meetup.

Regarding the venue, Jessica Colaco suggested we also try Nailab (same building as iHub)
I've already inquired regarding this and I'll let you know as soon as I receive feedback.

Hi guys,
Now that the first wikisaturday is <72 hours away could we come up with a venue for the 1st universal one at least, so that from there we take it to the campus level.
BTW I have downloaded 50% and counting the zim file for Swahili Wikipedia that BT informed us about.

if
there is an event to which they are invited.....

Seems like there's preference for people to hold WikiSat at the
convenience of their campuses. That's OK -- people are free to do do it wherever they find it most convenient.
Most of the students are on recess now in my university, so for the next
couple of months I'll be popping in and out of iHub to edit. I think Grace might also accompany me. So for those who might not be able to go to
campus
for one reason or another, do ping me and we'll liaise our own
WikiSaturday.

Yah, awesome idea Oscar.
In my opinion, the best way to approach this would be through campus
clubs, that way we won't have to worry about creating awareness and
dealing
with campus administration. This should be workable.

i think Oscar's idea is brilliant! That way we do not have to hold the meetings on saturday mornings they can even be held on weekdays maybe
over
lunch hour or in the evenings.

Greetings, @Oscar,
Guys, Another wild suggestion guys is since some of us JKUAT) are resuming session from this week onwards, and we have access to WiFi,what if we
start
thinking of having Local Campus WikiSaturdays?Like why should we have
JKUAT
guys having there own WikiSaturday and hoipefully recruit newbies in
the
Campus,Strath the same and staff...Plus anyone could attend any of
the
WikiDays he/she wishes and can make to.It would be quite cheap for
both
of
us...Then we could have live discussions via IRC,chats, etherpads and staff....just an idea to make voluntary manageble to all of us...:P
That is a very clever and brilliant idea, and I can never say it
better
than you did. It go a long way in popularizing the idea of Wikipedia editing, and we could turn many of our Comrades from just consumers to
Contributors of Wikipedia. I recommend that we give the thought consideration.
@ Oliver, I agree with you that this idea would make it very flexible. After all, it would be very expensive for me to travel all the way
from
Juja
to Nairobi on a fixed day, but if we alternate the WikiSaturdays, I
could
choose a Saturday at my convenience (time
and finance) to be a guest in
another Wikisaturday and could even use the opportunity to debrief the members of that group concerning progress in our home group and the strategies we are employing ;)
Have a great week all.
