We were just discussing the hosting and migration with Stephen, we are moving to a cPanel system, what platform are you on? This would be necessary info for migration.
I am hosting on a bunch of servers running the LAMP stack (Linux MySQL Apache PHP).
Currently I am moving the services from a cluster of six servers each hosting individual services to a new cluster with brand new hardware running all services in single virtual machines which are duplicated over the cluster, so loadbalancing can be done among the machines running in parallel. It also makes management easier as all virtual machines have the exact same setup holding all services we provide. The management by the customer is done through the webinterface which we are currently redesigning to fit together with the new setup. This is talking about the webhosting cluster though, where wikimedia.or.ke resides currently. My main business is hosting individual platforms for customers, such as Wikimedia Austria which recently ordered their own, individual server from me. This will be an individual server (own hardware) with a LAMP stack on it hosted in my datacenter and managemed by me. The costs are 100 EUR / month (~11.000 KES) inlcuding everything (rented hardware, power, bandwidth, hard- and software management).
Regards,
Manuel
