Hi people, Orange has got a weekly unlimited internet offer which costs kshs. 990. I think it can also be a viable option since orange also has a 3g network. Any way Orange internet offers are far much economical compared to that of safaricom (referring to their spend less browse more brochure). Have great week people.

Hi,
We only need one modem for the hotspot and then the other users connect to the hotspot via the wireless connectivity. Consequently, the other users need to put on their wireless adapters then connect to the network that we could for instance call WikimediaKE.

I'm not a fan of Safaricom's sh2 per minute billing system. IMHO, I find
Orange way cheaper and faster than Safaricom: Orange charges sh. 110 for 100MB. But anyway, I guess we don't have that many users in Orange...

The best option is we use connectify software and the safaricom new billing rate of unlimited browsing/download the rates are 2sh a minute and they don't restrict the data bundles as long as you are subscribed so guys will still facebook, tweet, and edit wikipedia. In my calculation 600SH will last us 5 hours. If you agree to this then it will now be the issue of venue. Alex can sort that out I am sure

Hi guys,
To probably add onto Oscar's suggestion, the ideos can support upto 9
users
at a time but this should not be a worry, since there is a software
called
connectify which is freeware. The software is purported to turn any
laptop
running on windows 7 into a hotspot. But the 'hotspot' needs to be
connected
to the internet and then from there other users can log in with a
password
given by the admin of the hotspot.
The only advantage is,It is not limited to number of users. Finding another venue without wifi connection would be a cinch if we
had our
own internet. Thank you and have a good day.

Hey guys, Looks like ihub is going to unrelibke for our monthly editing.I suggest we think of alternative ways.To start it of, The IDEOS phone can broadcast wifi quite well.since a few of us have it,we could buy some data bundles and find a venue and carry on with our editing.ofcourse we will need to set some norms like disable auto updates,no facebook, twitter etc.what do you think?
