Hi all,
I've been following this discussion with great interest and excitement. A couple of notes:
1. I've asked our tech team to secure the domain name for you. We can hold until you have a chapter set up. Let me know if you would prefer an alternative arrangement. 2. Jessie Wild (WMF's Strategic Projects Manager for Global Development) who is working on offline projects is available to engage with you on ways WMF could support the Wikipedia for Schools project. She is following along on the mailing list too. Let us know what we can do to help out - including possible funding.
Best, Barry

David,
We dont have a website yet. What we do have are meta subpages:

As we speak, Manuel and Asaf are working on creating a wiki for us.
Back upthread, Anirudh suggested that the domain www.wikimedia.or.ke http://www.wikimedia.or.ke is vacant and it costs $59

I think Wikimedia Kenya sounds better...
By the way, besides the mailing list page, what is the official URL? Sorry, just got on board recently...

I guess it's rather "Wikimedia Kenya" than "Wikimedia KE". Wikimedia in Switzerland has choosen "CH" not because it is the country code but "Confoerderatio Helvetica" is the official name of the country and is neutral concerning the four official languages. "Wikimedia Switzerland" wouldn't be appropriate because English is not an official language in Switzerland and all the other possibilities "Schweiz", "Suisse", "Svizzera" or "Svizra" would only represent a part of the swiss community. So "CH" for "Confoerderatio Helvetica" was an elegant way out. That's why we are so picky in correcting people when they say "Wikimedia Switzerland". /Manuel -- Regards Manuel Schneider Wikimedia CH - Verein zur Förderung Freien Wissens Wikimedia CH - Association for the advancement of free knowledge www.wikimedia.ch <http://www.wikimedia.ch/> _______________________________________________ WikimediaKE mailing list WikimediaKE@lists.wikimedia.org <mailto:WikimediaKE@lists.wikimedia.org> https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediake
