Hi Guys, We appreciate your support and congratulatory messages. My team are asking to know if we will get support from you guys as we prepare to participate in the National exhibitions organized by Commission of higher education Kenya. The venue will be Kakamega on 17th-19th march and we plan to forward our project tomorrow. Our worry is we don't have posters and any other accompanying material, that is the challenge we faced during the open day, infact we were forced to create and print wikimedia leaflets and posters for our stand. Hope you guys will support

Isaac and team, it is so amazing and inspiring to see the progress you have made and your efforts to publicize Wikimedia Kenya. Congrats guys and keep moving, we got your back.
Alex, I hope the wiki is already up on this. Let me confirm
Thanks for this update, Alex; it's great that you took the initiative to report on this.
Kudos to the Egerton team for their work!
May I suggest that e-mails are not the optimal way to _store_ these
reports?
E-mail is good to share the reports, certainly, but for good access, searchability, and availability for future subscribers to this list who
will
not have received today's e-mail, I recommend that we copy these reports into sub-pages under: http://wikimedia.or.ke/Wikipedia_for_Schools_Project
Keep up your inspiring work!

Hi guys,
Sometime back, Isaac a student at Egerton University posted some
activities
that he and a team of other Egerton students have been doing to create awareness of Wikimedia as well as the schools project in there
university.
These included distributing the Wikipedia for schools zim file and Kiwix around their region as well as setting up a Wikipedia stand in an Open
Day
at their campus.
I feel that the magnitude of the work this team has done hasn't quite
been
recognized. So far, the Egerton group has been able to visit 6 schools
with
regards to the schools project as well as represent Wikimedia Kenya
during
their open day and even had the Minister of higher education visit their stand. They've also received great feedback from the schools they've
visited
so far which Isaac will make available.
So I'd like to give a thumbs up to the Egerton team for the awesome work done and acknowledge the presence of active Wikimedians in Nakuru.
With this said, we should really come up with strategies to support and recognize activities from Wikimedians and new contributors from all over Kenya so as to have a sustinable growth of Wikimedia Kenya.
cheers,
Alex
