Dear WM Medicine members,
I’m writing to you on behalf of AffCom (Affiliations Committee) to request your help for a new Wikimedia User Group (UG), which has a specified area of work that aligns with your affiliate’s scope of work.
We are talking about a new UG H-GAPS https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/H-GAPS_User_Group, that is dedicated to creating information about psychological science. HGAPS aims to bridge the gap between students, clinicians, researchers, and the public by creating and spreading accessible and free resources.
Unfortunately, while working on the English Wikipedia, they encountered problems, which are caused by the fact that they don’t have sufficient experience in running Wikimedia projects, and especially on English Wikipedia. So we believe yours experience as an affiliate can help them resolve their issues & grow as an affiliate.
We will really appreciate it if you’d agree to help them in this matter and be their mentors.
Sincerely, On behalf AffCom, Mehman
Thank you for the email I would be willing to help where I can Marion Wright

Dear Mehman,
I received your call for help indirectly and alreadfy raised my hand on the H-GAPS discussion page. However, er... how should I put it ... it makes a rather zombie impression and I am afraid it will take more than a humble me to put this humpty dumpty back on the wall.
But - Ill keep my fingers crossed.
sincere regards

I really like this idea to expand and improve Wikipedia coverage of psychological science. (Is it just Wikipedia?)
However, I looked at this before but I quickly found myself confused so I did not pursue it further. It's still confusing, but this time I will at least ask some questions.
*What is the best way to join?*
- Email the group at HGAPSClub@gmail.com ? - Add your name to https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/H-GAPS_User_Group#Full_list ? - Post a message on the talk page https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:H-GAPS_User_Group?
*I did all three to be sure.*
*Other questions:*
- Do we need to, or should we, join the Wikiversity http://helping%20give%20away%20psychological%20science/Helping Give Away Psychological Science http://helping%20give%20away%20psychological%20science/ group/organization <http://Helping Give Away Psychological Science>? - Do we need to be a graduate student or faculty member of a university? - What is an Alumni chapter https://www.hgaps.org/alumni.html? Do we need to belong to the university's alumni organization? - Is the organization also a training program? - Does DHGAPSClub provide psych assessment services? - What is the difference between the H-GAPS User Group, DHGAPSClub, and *Wikiversity* HGAPS https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Helping_Give_Away_Psychological_Science ? - Do we need to also join Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP) - APA Div. 53 https://sccap53.org/
Many thanks,
mark

Great news! I would be happy to help :)
(Perhaps the group would be interested in learning more about Wikitherapy https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikitherapy: it's a program I piloted four years ago here in Greece, and was replicated in Argentina. We trained mentally ill patients to edit the Wikimedia projects, with remarkable results :)
Best wishes, Mina (User:Saintfevrier)
