Dear members of Wikiproject Medicine,
I am writing to you to inform about our work in using Smart Servier Medical
Art Images on Wikimedia projects. Smart Servier <https://smart.servier.com/>
is an image repository of 3000 medical images/illustrations. User:
OlafJanssen <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:OlafJanssen> has
figured out a smart way to batch upload these images in good resolution to
Wikimedia Commons. I am helping him with the naming, categorization and
uptake of these images. More information about the project and its present
status can be found on the project page here:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Smart_Servier
There is one question which I would like to know your opinion about. In
what ways do you think these images will be useful on Wikimedia projects?
Given that these are simplified illustrations related to common medical
conditions, what are the possible pages/projects where these images will be
useful? Would you like to see these images placed in a medical article, and
if yes, in which section(s) of the article? I would love to hear about what
you think.
Right now, I and Olaf have started it small. We'd like for members of this
group to help us in translating the descriptions and uptaking them to
various Wikimedia projects. If you are interested in ideation, translation,
outreach or anything else that you think is useful for this project, please
sign up on the project page here
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Smart_Servier#Participants>.
Regards
Netha
