Dear Wiki Loves Africa organisers
Wiki Loves Africa 2020 ended yesterday - congratulations!! We have over 16k entries and still counting (more on that later). For now, please take time to congratulate yourselves and your communities on a very good contest during a very, very difficult time. Well done and thank you to each and every one of you!!
Jury process:
Luckily, it is not over for some of us!! Those who are organising local juries and winners, and want more information, guidance or advice … we are getting together THIS afternoon on Zoom to chat about it. The meeting will take place at 4pm (UTC+2). The Zoom link is https://zoom.us/j/95848689762?pwd=SzBmSTZIcFRscU9pWWVBVDQwQm9Gdz09 - there is a PIN number required to access the zoom meeting. I will put the PIN number in the Telegram group just before the time for the meeting. For those of you who are not on (or do not read) the telegram group - here is the link: https://t.me/joinchat/FI9fz0pnPNiWbyyLr-YsFQ - see you there.
Check all your country’s entries are in its category:
It is obvious, that some people have not used the upload wizard. This means that not every uploaded entry has been officially “entered”.
Please, please can you double check that all your uploads (and those of your friends and community) are in the correct category link. For example - this is the category link for Kenya : https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Africa_2…
If they are not in the country category, you will have to manually add the “images from Wiki Loves Africa 2020 in [country]” to each image that has been uploaded. Please can you check these by Tuesday next week?
Documentation:
Please remember to update your meta pages about what activities (online and offline) you did so that we can see what a great job you did and you can inspire others to do similar activities. (It will also be helpful when you write you rapid grant reports or apply for next year 😜). Link your meta page to the WLA participation page on Meta and Commons <https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Africa_2020/Local_eve…>.
Thank you again, and hope to see a few of you in 2 hours time!
warmest
Isla (and Anthere)
