Hello WikiJournal participants,
I made some further updates to the proposed bylaws changes (which were initiated by concerns by the Affiliations Committee as part of our application to become a thematic organization https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_thematic_organizations under Wikimedia Foundation). I think we should give the updated version at least another 5 days to make sure everyone has a chance to have a look and vote: https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Talk:WikiJournal_User_Group#Bylaws_review_by...
At the same time, there is already a considerable support for bringing the project even to the next level, that is, to become a sister project https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikimedia_sister_projects. This can also mean a considerably higher budget in the future. See: https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Talk:WikiJournal_User_Group#Support_for_this... and https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Talk:WikiJournal_User_Group#Sister_project_a...
I'm thinking of asking the Affiliations Committee about whether we want to go directly for the sister project application, which may save administrative work if we can actually achieve this in a near future. What do you think?
Best regards,
Mikael
Hello again.
The bylaws are now updated, and I have now asked the Affiliations Committee if they can consider an application to become a sister project, and whether there are any additional issues that we need to address at this point (email copied to below).
On a separate note, our grant application for this year is now approved ( https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Rapid/WikiJournal_2019).
Best regards,
Mikael

Hello Kirill and AffCom,
WikiJournal User Group has now updated the Bylaws, following a vote which can be seen at: https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Talk:WikiJournal_User_Group#Bylaws_review_by...
Concurrently, there is a substantial support for making WikiJournal a sister project. The proposal page, with discussion, is seen at: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiJournal
Do you think the appropriate application form in this matter would be to first attain Thematic Organization status and subsequently apply to become a sister project, or could you directly consider an application for becoming a sister project? For the latter purpose, are there any additional issues that WikiJournal needs to address at this point?
Best regards,
Mikael Häggström editor.in.chief@wikijmed.org
