Hello,
The process to elect the official two group contacts of the Wikibase Community User Group (WBUG) has started [1].
To sum up: * *Until 2021-07-08 (17:00 UTC), candidates are required to announce their candidatures on Meta* [2]. In the meantime, the community is invited to ask them questions. * Then, until 2021-07-22 (17:00 UTC), the community will be able to vote.
This process was discussed in several places, including on Meta [3], during several meetings [4] [5] and on the Wikibase group on Telegram [6].

A brief reminder: candidates for the election of group contacts must nominate themselves by 2021-07-08 (17:00 UTC) on https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikibase_Community_User_Group/2021_contact_e... in accordance with the guidelines there.
Questions about duration and succession have been raised, and your input would be welcome: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikibase_Community_User_Group/2021_cont...
Why you should nominate and/or vote:
While several groups are engaged in Wikibase development, often backed by institutions with significant resources, the user group has filled a role in assisting individual end-users; and as an affiliate is uniquely empowered to represent them and their interests to the Wikimedia Foundation.
Additionally, while non-affiliated individuals may apply for grants in their own right, the WMF looks favourably on those which have been discussed and approved by relevant recognized affiliates, as long as they don't conflict with existing grants.
As such, it's important these positions are filled, so as to maintain the group's ability to participate in official WMF discussions and elections, send delegates to events, use Wikimedia's marks, and represent Wikibase users' interests. The selected contacts will file annual reports, and act on the group's behalf after consulting with members.

Hello everyone,
The voting phase to elect the group contacts of the Wikibase Community User Group has started a few days ago.
You can vote until 2021-07-22 (17:00 UTC) on Meta: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikibase_Community_User_Group/2021_contact_e...
As there is only one candidate at the moment (and two positions), the self-nominating phase is extended until the end of the votes, so you can still run for the position.
Cheers, Envel Le Hir

Today's your last chance to vote for Wikibase Community User Group contacts, who represent the group to WMF and other affiliates, engage in partnerships, and file activity reports and statements of needs/concerns as described at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_user_groups/User_Group_Primary_Con...
The vote closes in under three hours. Candidates must receive at least weak support to be elected. Participation shows WMF and others that the group is active and its members are engaged in the process, so please make your views known at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikibase_Community_User_Group/2021_contact_e... after reviewing the candidates' statements.
