Hello -
Would it be possible to get an example dump of the data from the
wikibase-registry running here: http://wikibase-registry.wmflabs.org/
and then a demo of how to import that data into a fresh install?
Basically, what I was hoping for would be:
- the example command line to create a dump file with the contents (json?
rdf?)
(maybe running
"docker-compose exec wikibase php
./extensions/Wikibase/repo/maintenance/dumpJson.php "
per the docker-compose readme from
https://github.com/wmde/wikibase-docker/blob/master/README-compose.md )
- where on a fresh wikibase-docker setup to copy the resulting JSON file
- the command on a fresh wikibase-docker install to import the JSON file
At the end of it, I was hoping to have a wikibase with some data by which I
compare against the wikibase-registry - something that's small and easy to
understand, but also easy to modify and experiment with, and most
importantly correct and something I can compare against a known good
example.
My apologies if this is a nonsense request - I'm still trying to be sure
I've figured out the pieces of wikibase, so I'm hoping this will help me
answer my own questions/ask better questions.
Thank you!
-Erik
Hello everybody,
The Wikitrace project aims at gathering a perinially acknowledged
community of lexicologists around a relational lexicological data bank
and related consultation services.
This project find its root in members of the TWUG willing to provide
services around Wiktionaries which can hardly be provided direcly by the
Wikitionary instances themselves, especially when it comes to cross data
relations within and between Wiktionary instances.
Concretely the roadmap so far include :
* create a Wikibase instance to host the data bank
* integrate Wiktionary dumps in the instance
* build querying external services for
* make the database queriable from Wiktionaris and Wikimedia projects
You are kindly invited to make all your feedbacks on the dedicated RFC
thread of the project talk page:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikitrace
Cheers,
Mathieu
Hi all
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikibase_Community_User_Group lists the
"Federated-Wikibase-Workshops" board on phabricator as the board for the
user group.
How would people feel about changing the name to "Wikibase-UserGroup"?
I don't think the FWW name ever really made that much sense for the
project, but we had nothing better at the time.

Hi,
Welcome to the Wikibase Community User Group mailing list. This list is to
support activities related to
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikibase_Community_User_Group . More
importantly, the list also serves as a place to discuss technical issues
related to the Wikibase software by people and organizations who have their
own installs that operate outside the Wikimedia Foundation ecosystem.
The Wikibase Community User Group was founded by Laura Hale and Miguel
Paraz. Laura, that's me, is based in Madrid, Spain while Miguel is based
in Melbourne, Australia. Our primary work is on https://para-sports.es/ ,
a project about disability rights and disability sports. Miguel has done
some tool development related to bulk uploading, along with maximizing
server resources for what amounts to an enterprise level amount of data. I
do most of the data entry, data organization, data cleanup, and writing
queries bit.
We have a slack channel at https://parasports.slack.com/ . If anyone wants
an invite, please let me know. We prefer slack to IRC as it is easier to
share files and maintain searchable archives of conversations. There were
a lot of issues we ran into that we discussed in the main channel that may
be of interest to people doing their own installs.
Please feel free to ask questions, share any issues you may have about the
Wikibase software, share what you're doing as others would probably find it
helpful as they deal with similar issues. (I believe our current issue
involves caching of queries using RAM when server space is limited, and
having to manually clear it but that side isn't my strength so probably not
explaining it correctly.)
Sincerely,
Laura Hale
