Hi everyone,
The next Wikidata+Wikibase office hours
<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Category:Office_hour_notes> will take place
on Wednesday, April 20th 2022 at 16:00 UTC (18:00 Berlin time) in the
Wikidata Telegram group <https://t.me/joinchat/IeCRo0j5Uag1qR4Tk8Ftsg>.
*The Wikidata and Wikibase office hours are online events where the
development team present what we have been working on over the past
quarter, and the community is welcome to ask questions and discuss
important issues related to the development of Wikidata and Wikibase.*
Looking forward to seeing you all.

(sorry for cross posting)
Hi all,
As this is my first post on this mailing list, and we may not have met yet: Hi! I’m Lea,
Head of Product Management at Wikimedia Deutschland. I have some staffing related
announcements to make concerning Wikibase.
After more than 2 amazing years at Wikimedia Deutschland, our product manager for the
Wikibase ecosystem, Sam Alipio is moving on to other adventures. We thank Sam for the
skills, the drive and generally being a great colleague. Amongst others, Sam was
responsible for the 2021 strategy for the Wikibase ecosystem[1] and key to Wikimedia
Deutschland’s decision to provide Wikibase as a Service. Take care and farewell, Sam!
The Wikibase ecosystem continues to grow, and it is for this reason that Wikimedia
Deutschland plans to have two product managers for the Wikibase ecosystem going forward.
One product manager focussed on Wikibase.cloud and a second on Wikibase Suite, which
includes the docker and manual install.
We are excited to announce that Evelien Zandbergen will join us as product manager for
Wikibase.cloud in a few weeks. Evelien is looking forward to joining the Linked Open Data
movement, and will introduce herself once she starts.
The second product management position will follow later this year, and in the interim, I
will act as product manager for the Wikibase Suite.
As always, feel free to reach out to us via swe_partnerships(a)wikimedia.de.
We are excited to continue working towards our vision[2] and fostering the Wikibase
ecosystem together with you!
Cheers,
Lea

Hi all,
This is an update on the timeline for Wikimedia Deutschland’s launch of
Wikibase.cloud. We are planning to start the closed beta of Wikibase.cloud
in mid-April.
Today, we reached out to all WBstack users who previously signaled their
interest in migrating to Wikibase.cloud. Once users have accepted our Terms
of Service, we will begin to migrate WBstack wikis to Wikibase.cloud in
batches.
Once the migration is complete, we will focus on inviting more people into
the Wikibase.cloud closed beta. If you want to apply for closed beta
access, please register with this form
<https://lime.wikimedia.de/index.php/717538>. We'll consider each
application on its merits, but we'll give greater consideration to projects
aligned with our movement
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_Strategy> and Linked Open Data
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/LinkedOpenData/Strategy2021> strategies.
Given that this is the first time we are providing a Software as a Service,
we want to increase platform use gradually. This will allow us to learn in
a somewhat controlled setting and grow sustainably, ensuring that
Wikibase.cloud empowers knowledge holders as quickly as possible to share
their data with Wikibase
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/LinkedOpenData/Strategy2021/Wikibase>.
Cheers,

Dear Wikibase.cloud people,
The email from 2 February 2022 stated "We are hard at work on this
platform and plan to launch it by the end of the first quarter of 2022."
but also "Wikibase.cloud will launch in the first half of 2022".
https://lists.wikimedia.org/hyperkitty/list/wikibase-cloud@lists.wikimedia.…
I am wondering how the Wikibase.cloud setup is going (I did not
participate in the recent video meeting).
I manage a Wikibase instance, https://dreams.wiki.opencura.com. It is
unclear to me whether I managed to sign up early enough to get for the
close beta on Wikibase.cloud.
I suppose, I can continue adding information to our Wikibase instance at
wbstack.com and that sometime in the future it might be copied to
Wikibase.cloud?
best regards
