Did I send you this? Just a heads up so you see what's in store. I'm not collecting RSVPs, because I'm not good at that sort of thing anyway. However, people are def. interested. Hit up everyone else today, tech etc.

Subject: Mike 2.0 party fest - NOV 19
Hi all,
Some of you know I've been trying to figure out a time to 'celebrate mike' or 'Celemike'.... Mikebration? since he's moved on from his role at WMF. He's totally down for having a bit of a shindig, and all insanity aside, we've settled on Friday, November 19, after work, and yes - in Oakland. It has to be Oakland. It's partly tradition, and it's partly just where awesome things happen. I'm not going to sell Oakland, just take my word for it. And this is by no means an 'official' or sponsored party, just something casual and organized by people who like mike.
I have not included everyone from staff, certainly not used staff-l, and I honestly have no idea who all should come. So I'm asking each of you to reach out organically through your teams and invite cool folks to come along as well (you all represent tech, community, $, etc. . Even if you can't make it, just let folks know. Mike was here about 3 years exactly, so everyone knows him. It's probably clear who you might not want to include (under the circumstances) and frankly, there's 0% chance those people would want to go anyway. This is for colleagues of the Godwin.
Rough plan (and there are different ways to do this)...
FERRY (aka, AWESOME) method to Oakland (http://www.eastbayferry.com/index1.php) 5:20 ferry from the ferry bldg to Oakland
5:45 - drinks at Heinhold's First and Last (Jack London Square) http://www.heinoldsfirstandlastchance.com/
If you've never been, an instant classic - right off the ferry
7ish - more beverages at Trappist (460 8th street, just up the street) http://www.thetrappist.com/
Also an instant classic. Tremendous beer and one of the best pubs in the bay area.
8ish - eating - somewhere. Probably a chinese place in the neighborhood, there are dozens
Afterwards - maybe Bar 335 (http://www.yelp.com/biz/bar-three-fifty-five-oakland) up the street
or Van Cleef's (http://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-van-kleef-oakland)
Or you can go home. Everyone should go home at some point.
BART is the way to get back to SF if you need to, or if you live in the east bay, how cool is that? You're already home.
BARTers from SF could join at any one of those points and check in with me via cell to see where we are. If you can only make one thing, I'd suggest Trappist.
I will also reach out to east bayers we know so well: Rand and Patti, also cary to see if he's interested, and anyone else who is around.
But HERE'S THE DEAL - there's no need to reply to me with a yay or nay or maybe or whatnot. Come if you can, and spread the word to cool people, but don't feel obliged to RSVP. Even if there's 2 of us, this will still happen.
Maybe we need a godwin's law theme too? I don't recommend wearing swastikas or little mustaches in Oakland, but we can leave it to our collective and overactive imagination, right? Marvel/DC also a good theme. Or vintage apple computers. Or feet up on a desk. Battling the FBI? Cornchips and chessboards? Dare I go on...
Hope you can come - mark the date. Don't RSVP, but do ask me questions or float ideas with this group if you can make it better. Please make it better.
Otherwise, see you all on Nov 19 for some Godwin!
Yours, cruise director jay
