Clayton has sent you the script for the Induction. Whenever I have done it, I asked everyone to learn all of the lines (except, Sly's and Bartholomew's, of course). If that is life-threatening at this point (with 22 days to go), then we need to assign servant lines (servant 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.
What do you think?
Doc
I am comfortable learning all the lines.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my inner alarm system screams "life-threatening!"
Having worked with this scene many times, I "know" many of the lines already, but worry that this servant would, uh, "droop," if he took a shot at memorizing the whole scene at this late date, in conjunction with everything else I'm cramming.
I am appropriately ashamed to admit this.

Having stuck my neck out with admissions of inadequacy as I just did, I realized that I didn't want to seem to suggest that you, Doc, assign all the lines now -- I hope you don't. I think we have in the past enjoyed working out in improvisation how (and who) delivers the lines.

Yep, Mike. The scene is really easy to learn. The first time I did it, everyone stood in a circle and read from the script. By the third time, everyone knew the lines. Piece of cake. Especially if everyone reads it over and over before coming down.

Already phrases are tumbling back into my mind, just as I would tumble in the lustful bed of Semiramis.

to have the entire scene before arrival is beyond life threatening (newborns don't let you get much sleep)... but I am happy to learn it in circle and take my part after we arrive.

Here's how my process always goes: 1. I learn all my lines to the letter--sitting on my sofa or walking around the kitchen at home. 2. I arrive at Winedale, get on stage with my fellows, and my mind goes completely blank. 3. My fellows lovingly and patiently work me back to the state where I can say my lines on stage--and at night while I'm asleep in bed. 4. Yes, steps 2 and 3 all happen within the space of one week.
I'm willing to try everyone knowing all the lines--learning all the lines--by process of our having done it over and over and over again.
I feel I'm nearing the edge of the bungee-jumping cliff, y'all! See you soon!
love, Susan

I share the expressed fears as well, Mike; however, I think anytime we all stand or sit together in a circle, the energy exponentially lifts us out doubt transported..... remember our last Friday night circle at the 2005 reunion?
Maybe we should do all the scenes together in circles.... I'm in! Joy
