Oh, how I want to be there. All the East Coasters are there in spirit. Thought we should touch base about Tuesday--who's going, what we need in terms of shovels, watering cans, and so on. Doc, shall we each come equipped with the above and shall we each bring a bag of potting soil? You said before that you would get the rose bushes--is that right? I am coming to sxsw this week from march 1O thru 15. On Friday at 6 pm we are showing last week's Oscar winner In a Better World at the State Theater (on Congress, I believe at 8th Street). If you would like to come I have 20 tickets to the screening. I already have a yes from Doc and Joanne, Madge, Clayton, and Stan. I would like to take everyone who comes to the screening to dinner afterwàrds and I have made a reservation at the W Hotel which is around the corner of the State Theater. Just let me know if you can come. If you can't make it, I have some tickets to the screenings of my other films as well. Here are the other screenings: In a Better World 2nd screening at the Alamo Lamar Theater at 6pm. on Saturday. The Greatest Movie Ever Sold At the Paramount Theater at 4pm on Sunday. Incendies At the State Theater at 9pm on Monday They are all pretty good. I look forward to seeing some of you next week, if your schedules allow. All the best, m

Spring Break: Virginia's roses

We are (still) planning to plant roses along the front fence at Winedale in honor of Virginia Elverson on Tuesday, March 15. We will have some 12 or so to plant. Virginia originally planted the roses on the fence. Only three of hers remain. And we'd like to send her a photo of them ass soon as possible. She is getting weaker each day. So let me know if you can come to Winedale to help. Thus far, Clayton, Maggie Megaw Monas and I are on the list. Cheers, Doc

Celebrating Lizz K on March 12

Dear Friends, Various people have been scrambling to try to get together details, and we've finally got a plan for March 12. Below is the information. Please feel free to share with anybody who might be interested in coming out to Winedale (or joining in Austin for the evening component). I'm back in the classroom on March 15, so I won't be at Winedale for the rose planting, but Kathryn and I will be in Austin March 9-13, and I will be very glad to see some of you! Matt --- The friends and family of Lizz Ketterer will gather to celebrate her life on Saturday, March 12, from 1-4 pm, at the barn at Winedale, FM 2714, near Round Top, Texas (take FM 1457 east from Round Top for two miles, then turn left on 2714; the theatre barn parking lot will be on your right after about a mile). In the spirit of Lizz, this event is open and welcoming to anyone who loved her, and will be an informal afternoon full of stories, laughter, and music. Please plan to gather in the barn at 2pm for a shared program. Bring food and drink to share, a lawn chair or two or a picnic blanket, a musical instrument if you're so inclined, good stories, and your singing voice. In addition, there will be a gathering in Austin on Saturday evening, from 8pm on. Details to come. Please contact Christa French for more detailed directions or with any questions.
