Hi,
Users were supposed to received an automated mail 28 days before account expiry (which is currently 1 Dec for most users), but due to an issue with the program which sends the mails, they were not sent. The problem has been fixed and users will receive another mail 7 days before expiry, but in the mean time you may wish to run 'acctrenew' on willow now to renew your account.

You cannot be "not on a Solaris system". Toolserver accounts are shared between all servers, so you can use the same credentials to log into any server, and renewing your account on one server will also renew it on all other servers.

The LDAP password is something different, available in your .my.cnf file.
The LDAP password is what you use when, for example, you login to phpmyadmin.toolserver.org (the first login that pops-up from the browser - not the one for the database itself).

The LDAP password, atleast for me, is not stored in the .my.cnf file. What is stored in the .my.cnf files is access credentials for connecting to the database servers (ie. when connecting to a database in PHP). LDAP is seperate from that and is not stored, that I know of, anywhere (especially not in clear text).
The SSH authentication uses public_key and is also seperate. So there's SSH, LDAP, MySQL access and your SSO (Single Sign On) for web-services (such as JIRA, FishEye etc.) All seperate :-)
What you need to do is connect to a Solaris server (ie. willow.toolserver.org) with SSH and after the 'acctrenew' command login with the LDAP password.

Huh? No. The password in your .my.cnf file is the password associated with your MySQL user. LDAP passwords are stored elsewhere and are set using setpass (see link above).
It might be nice if someone wrote a page at https://wiki.toolserver.org/view/Authentication explaining SSH keys, LDAP passwords, MySQL passwords, etc.

I have a problem regarding LDAP passwd.
I tried 'acctrenew' but it said my LDAP passwd is wrong. I tried to reset my LDAP passwd by 'resetpasswd'. It said I need to set my email address. To set email address, I need to provide correct LDAP passwd.

Looks like it's truncated to 8 characters; Most logical solution might be running 'setpass'. I am quite new to the toolserver, so I don't know if it was different before, but it looks like the fastest solution to me.

That would be your UNIX password. I don't know if it's joined to LDAP, probably not. So you wouldn't be able to make any use of passwd. You should run setpass.

Platonides:

It is, which is why setpass will refuse to run if a password is already set.
willow% setpass setpass: password already set setpass: use passwd(1) to change your password

This should now be fixed, although if you have changed your $PATH, you will need to make sure /opt/local/bin is at the front.

As suggested already, file a ticket.
So interestingly. I decided to change my email during the process (it asks you if you want to run setmail) when I say yes: 1.It runs setmail 2. It asks for ldap passwd 3. It can not connect to the ldap server: ldap_connect: cannot bind as uid=jamesur,ou=People,o=unix,o=toolserver: Can't connect to the LDAP server
tried that a couple times eventually moved on and when the extension process was done ran setmail again This time it worked perfectly. Is it possible that it can't connect to ldap because the extension process is already connected or something like that?

The same happened for me when I tried to set the license during the acctrenew process. It did not work. I cancelled acctrenew and started setlicense (sp?) separately, and it worked. After that, acctrenew worked, too (without running setlicense within).

Hi,
So to clear up some issues which have arisen:
* Running setmail and setlicense within acctrenew currently doesn't work. I'll fix this later today, in the mean time you can run them manually.
* If you do not have an email address set and cannot remember your LDAP password, you should file a ticket in JIRA.
* acctrenew must be run on a Solaris login server. This effectively means it must be run on willow, since nightshade does not run Solaris and wolfsbane/ortelius are web servers, not login servers.
