Hi,
On Wednesday night (or possibly Thursday morning) UTC, we will do some maintenance on wolfsbane, the web server. This will at least involve a reboot (5-10 minutes downtime). There may be some additional interruption for network configuration changes, but I'll try to keep that to a minimum.

This maintenance has been postponed until Sun get around to fixing their website so we can download the required patches. That might be later today/tomorrow, or some time over the weekend.

It is reported[1] that firmware downloads have been restricted by Oracle. Has the same thing happened to these patches you need to download, or is it something else?

No, it's nothing to do with that. Login to sunsolve (for patch download) was broken by some internal network changes, and it's taking them a while to fix it.
Like the vast majority of Sun customers, we have both hardware and software contracts for the systems we use, so downloading patches and firmware is not an issue.

This maintenance was completed successfully. We have configured a cluster containing the two web servers, and verified that load balancing and failover between the two works.
To give people time to adapt their tools (as described in the previous mail), we will continue to run with a single web server for 1 week. After that, the second web server will be enabled.
The new web server is "ortelius", and it allows user logins as wolfsbane does.
