Hello,
What the hell does all that mean in English?
sorry, that eMail should go to the german board, but I have sent it to the serveradminlist by mistake. Why gmaxwell have forward it to the toolserver-Ml, I have no idea.
It wasn't at all clear that it was intended for the german board... but what is clear to me is that everyone outside of Wikimedia DE is being systematically excluded from status updates, not to mention decision making.
You could think, that I not write a english eMail to a list, when I know, that there a nongerman-speaking-people :).
I send a eMail to the german board periodaly, because there are the owner of zedler and like to be informed (because they must inform their members and so on). I not ses, that this is a exclusion (BTW: it's very more easy for me to write in german, then in english).
The decisions are make from kate in speaking with the other serveradmins. The german-board (as owner) gives only the main-decisions, and I make suggestions. The maindecisions from the board have mostly to do with german laws or something, but that's very few.
I especially got a laugh out of the implication that wikimedia de needs to own the equipment in order to avoid the "technical problems" (mismanagement in my eyes) which we've faced up to now... But perhaps I misunderstood, my German is not very good.
The owning is such a lawproblem. It's much easier for the verein to sell hardware for equipment, when the server is us (don't ask me, ask a lawer).
If it is your intention to make toolserver a DE only resource, then lets be upfront about it... It would likely be much easier to only maintain replication for DE resources than DE resources plus other broken resources.
I have no intention to do this, and the vorstand not, too. If we had plan this, why we had allow the using of zedler in the past?
Sincerly, DaB.
