hi, unfortunately one of zedler's disks has failed. maybe someone from the verein who reads this list could investigate a replacement ;-) k.

mysql status

hi, as people may be aware, there have been some issues with mysql crashing recently. i'm currently working with mysql support to try to isolate the problem; as part of this i've replaced the mysql server with a debug binary, which may run slightly slower. i apologise for the problems while this is being worked on, but hopefully it should be resolved soon. kate.

Database of all wikis mirrored on zedler

Hi Thanks to Kate, we now have a database called 'toolserver'. The 'wiki' table in that database lists all wikis mirrored on zedler, with dbname, content language and domain name. I hope this will be useful. -- Daniel -- Homepage: http://brightbyte.de

hi, for those of you who don't follow IRC, here's a summary of recent changes: - after a few teething problems, database replication should be working; see http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Toolserver/For_users#database - http://bibliography.wikimedia.de/ - because apper was asking for it - beland started a list of projects at http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Toolserver/Projects which you should probably add your own things to. - akl made a toolserver icon at http://tools.wikimedia.de/images/wikimedia-toolserver-button.png which you could use to link back to the main page with. - no news on the progress of adding more disk space... hmm, i think that's all. rgds, kate.

I don't have a toolserver account (yet?), but was purusing /~voj. Useful stuff there. Unfortunately, I don't know what other username paths are valid. The front page says it'll eventually list projects; I want something more expedient. Can someone with toolserver access just place a list of valid user names on the front page so that I can at least hack URLs to find toolmaker gold?

I use tcsh, not bash, for a shell script, but I can't seem to run chsh on the server, and tcsh does not seem to be installed. (csh is, though I'm not sure how compatible that is.) ? -B.

With regard to blocking bot accounts... Well, http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1294 is what I'm wishing for. And as it happens, http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=550 seems to have consensus on en that it should be implemented. In the meantime, account-blocking has been working fine to keep good-faith bots from going out of control, so there's no need to fret about lacking full-featured blocks. With regard to notes on bot talk pages... Ah, I had forgotten about the "You have new messages..." banner. That would actually be a rather clever feature to add. My bot Pearle doesn't check for that now; I just have to check her talk page frequently myself. Some bot operators redirect their bot's talk page to their own talk page, just to make things easier for themselves. That complicates making such a nifty feature a *requirement*. I think I'll add it to WP:B as a suggestion, though. -B.
