Is "tcsh" available as a login shell? This is my personal preference, but it doesn't appear to be installed. I see "csh" there, but it's not the same. Is there any possibility of getting "tcsh" installed? Rich Wales richwales(a)toolserver.org

Could someone write a tool that allows me to search for the most recently active users on a certain project who speak a certain language (or combination of languages) natively? Problem with randomly missing user database

Hi all, I have a script here: http://toolserver.org/~dcoetzee/contributionsurveyor/ which accesses a user database u_dcoetzee. Example result page: http://toolserver.org/~dcoetzee/contributionsurveyor/survey.php?user=Ernest… About half the time when loading this page, I receive this error message: Unknown database 'u_dcoetzee' Source is here: http://toolserver.org/~dcoetzee/downloads/contribution_surveyor.tar.gz This is a new issue and the code has not changed at all, so I suspect some kind of database/server configuration error. In particular, I suspect the requests are being load balanced across two servers, only one of which has correct access to my user database. Can anyone shed light on what's going on with this? Tool for Countdown to 20 Million Articles Needed

Hi all! Apparently, we are approaching 20 Million pages worldwide (by some count. I have no idea what that actually includes). Does anyone here know of a nice counter/countdown tool we could use to show this off? Like the nice counter we had für the billionth edit last year, perhaps. I'm aware that this number can never be accurate, and there are several valid definitions of "page", etc. I'm just looking for something that is "close enough" to show off. Does this exist? / on willow was full — postmortem

Hello all, between midnight and 11 o'clock (both time-valuies are estimates and UTC) willow was unusable, because the root-partion of willow had run full by a tool which flooded the user-log (I messaged the tool-runers seperatly already). I cleaned some old audit-logs and moved the big user-log out of the way. I also rebooted willow to make sure that the space was freeed and that all crashed services run again. Wiktionary table of contents

Has anybody compiled a list of all entries in Wikitionary? I know there are XML dumps for page titles, e.g. http://download.wikimedia.org/enwiktionary/20110827/enwiktionary-20110827-a… But I was thinking on a dictionary entry level, e.g. the word "snigel" is available on en.wiktionary as a Norwegian Nynorsk entry, and on fr.wiktionary and pl.wiktionary as a Swedish entry. This could be expressed as a table with 3 columns: Entry Site Language snigel en nn snigel fr sv snigel pl sv An additional table could indicate the date when each Site's XML dump was used to update this large table of entries. I invite the toolserver community to the Wikimedia and MediaWiki hackathon happening 14-16 October 2011 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/NOLA_Hackathon We're getting together a wide variety of contributors -- including tool, extension, and gadget writers -- to participate, give feedback, test, and hack together. If you write software that uses the MediaWiki API, or runs on the Toolserver, I want you there! :-) At the event, MediaWiki developers and Wikimedia operations engineers will be working on Wikimedia's gadgets/extensions/tools support, authorization/authentication strategy, dev-ops virtualization, and general training and hacking. And we'll improve and discuss the Wikimedia Labs projects infrastructure and other stuff that makes it easier for anyone to supercharge Wikimedia with awesomeness. The event is open to anyone who wants to come and contribute, and is an opportunity to spend time with other MediaWiki developers & ops engineers, write beautiful code, and learn about the latest developments. We'll write code together, discuss the software, and hold little workshops. If you can make it to New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, 14-16 October 2011, we'd love to have you.
