Hi,
On Tuesday morning UTC we will restart all MySQL servers which contain
replicated database to change a configuration setting. This will cause
around 15 minutes downtime per server. We will not restart the fast and
non-fast server for the same cluster at the same time, so all replicated
database will continue to be available during the maintenance.

Hi,
As this is my first posting on this list, I'd like to introduce
myself:
My name is Thomas, I'm 28 and I live in Zurich, Switzerland. I've come
to Toolserver via OpenStreetMap, as my aim is to create a map for
cyclists. In the beginning I want to focus on the different access-
rights (and thus also produce access-maps for other means of transport
eg. cars, motorcycles, lorries). Later on, I'll maybe add some POIs
and routes.
Sneak-Preview: http://access.t-i.ch/
Even tough I've studied Business Informatics, I'm relatively new to
Unix; I run a Mapnik-server but my main OS is Windows 7. So I hope
you're not bored when I ask my may-be-newbie-questions. :)
Like this one:
In the welcome-mail it says, I should set my LDAP password[1]. But
when I try to run 'setpass' on willow, it (he?) responds with:
`setpass: priv set: Not owner´
So, what to do?
(Maybe there is a connection to the broken mkuser[2]?)
Regards,
Thomas

Hi,
We are changing how account renewals work from now on. Instead of
sending mail to have your account renewed manually, all users will be
able to renew their own account by running "acctrenew" on a Solaris
login server (e.g. willow).
You will receive email notifications 28 days, 7 days and 1 day before
your account expires. This mail will tell you how to renew your account
(i.e., run acctrenew). There will be no notifications via the mailing
list, so you need to make sure your Toolserver email address is
up-to-date.
You cannot run acctrenew until 28 days before your account expiry. It
will extend your account for six months from the day you run it (not six
months from your current expiry).
This system should be easier for everyone, since users can renew their
accounts immediately, and admins don't have to do anything.
If you allow your account to expire, you will not be able to renew it
yourself. That still requires sending mail to ts-admins@.

It return
404: User account expired
The page you requested is hosted by the Toolserver user devunt, whose
account has expired. Toolserver user accounts are automatically
expired if the user is inactive for over six months. To prevent stale
pages remaining accessible, we automatically block requests to expired
content.
If you think you are receiving this page in error, or you have a
question, please contact the owner of this document: devunt [at]
toolserver [dot] org. (Please do not contact Toolserver administrators
about this problem, as we cannot fix it—only the Toolserver account
owner may renew their account.)
How can I fix that?

Hello,
I know Markdown is installed somewhere, since I have a copy of River's
script that uses it - but I've tried `use Text::Markdown qw(markdown)`
in a script, and got Can't locate Text/Markdown.pm in @INC (@INC
contains: /etc/perl /usr/local/lib/perl/5.10.0
/usr/local/share/perl/5.10.0 /usr/lib/perl5 /usr/share/perl5
/usr/lib/perl/5.10 /usr/share/perl/5.10 /usr/local/lib/site_perl)
Should I be including Markdown some other way?
Thanks for any help,
- -Mike

Hi,
If you use CGI::Carp with fatalsToBrowser in your Perl CGI tools, please
remember that by default, the error message will instruct users to
contact ts-admins if your tool breaks. You need to change the error,
like this:
use CGI::Carp qw(fatalsToBrowser set_message);
set_message("Please mail jsmith(a)toolserver.org about this problem.");
Otherwise, ts-admins receives complaints about broken tools which we
don't care about and cannot fix.

Hi,
Several Perl and Python modules have been upgraded on the Solaris
servers; a full list of upgrades is available at
<https://jira.toolserver.org/browse/MNT-606>.
Additionally, Perl 5.12 has been installed. This can be tested using
/usr/bin/perl5.12; if there are no problems, it will become the default
perl shortly.
Some modules are not currently available for Perl 5.12, such as RRDTool and
Graphviz. These will become available before the default is changed.
