Hi,
Later tonight (UTC) I will upgrade the Toolserver wiki to the current
MediaWiki trunk version. There will be a brief outage of the wiki while
this is done.
This issue is being tracked in JIRA as MNT-78.

Hi people;
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy Toolserver New Year. I hope we
will develop many useful tools in the next year (remember small languages
and projects like wiktionary ;)).
Also, thanks to the Toolserver admins, keep up the good work.
Best wishes,
emijrp
Hello all,
today we run into a deadlock-situation on rosemary (that's the sql-server for
s1 (that's primary the english wikipedia)) where many queries seems to block
each other (see [MNT-60] for some details).
To end this deadlock, I killed all queries, even the *SLOW-OK* ones. So if you
had run a query between 12 o'clock and 16'o clock and it was killed, that was
me, please restart it if needed.
Sincerly,
DaB.

hi,
we had an outage of ~5 hours affecting all login servers from 04:15 UTC
to around 09:30 UTC. the issue was fixed fairly quickly once noticed,
but it took some time for an admin to be contacted.
the outage was caused by a misconfiguration on the cluster which
prevented switching the NFS service from a failed node to a working one.
the misconfiguration has been fixed, so failover should work correctly
in the future. (this was our first unscheduled cluster failover, so it
hadn't been tested before.)
a full description of the outage is available in MNT-56.

Hello,
cron stopped working yesterday, with no error messages being sent to my email.
Is that a known issue? What about other users cron?
Thank you!

Windows 7 is a new era of restrictions. <http://windows7sins.org>
Hello all
The Foundation moved three wikis, the ja, fr and ru Wikipedia, to their own
cluster, s6. We have created sql-s6 as an alias for yarrow and updated server
field for these wikis in the toolserver.wiki table accordingly (it will until
tomorrow for this change to propagate to all server).
The databases remain in the same place on the toolserver, that is, yarrow is
handling both s3 and s6 now. This will remain the case for the forseeable future.
If you have any per-server configuration, you need to account for the new
location, sql-s6, now, since toolserver.wiki refers to that. Especially, if you
have been using frwiki_p to estimate the replag for s3, you need to change this.
frwiki_p can be used to estimate the replag for s6 now, for s3, please use eswiki_p.
If you have any problems with this change, or any questions, please let us know.

The proper topic in JIRA I think is Toolserver
I put my request in "account approval" and nothing happened until DaB moved
it and then answered it by renewing me. You may want to move it :)
To everyone else, you may want to let people know the proper topic in JIRA
to use. :)

Hi all -
The IRC Group Contacts are in search of a developer to create and
maintain a new cloak request system. Some basic details are posted at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/IRC/Cloaks/System .
If you are interested (or know anybody who might be) or have any
questions, please get in touch with us. You can email
irc-contacts-owner(a)lists.wikimedia.org or poke one of us individually
( http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/IRC/Group_Contacts#Names ).
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I have an account at toolserver.org on which I run wikipediavision
which is streamed live on the wikimedia.de server. I was not aware
that I needed to send an email to extend the account and I noticed now
that the account stopped working and consequently wikipediavision has
stopped updating.
Could you please update my account or let me know what I should do in
order to have it extended ?
My account name is: lkozma
Sorry for bothering, as I was traveling, I was late reading all the
announcements.
Thanks,
Laszlo Kozma

which JIRA group should it be?
I added my renewal request to "Account Approval"
Perhaps that wasn't right? But that was my best guess. Please advise.
