Hi,
Following the recent Tech news blog post, Waldir left a comment on the MediaWiki Google+ page asking if it would be possible to post the link to the weekly tech newsletter on social media channels:
https://plus.google.com/103470172168784626509/posts/4rDTVXKxfZv
When I started the newsletter last year, I didn't want to post it every week on SM channels because we were just starting out. Now that the publication is reasonably steady, Waldir's comment has me rethinking the possibility.
So, I'm considering posting the link to the latest tech newsletter every morning when it's delivered to the subscribers across wikis. The link would be posted on all 3 channels (Facebook, Twitter and Google+) but only from the MediaWiki accounts for now. We might want to reshare or retweet it frow @Wikimedia from time to time, but for now I'd like to focus on getting started from @mediawiki.
Thoughts?
Seems like a good idea. :-)

Sounds great - kind of a no-brainer, for the MediaWiki accounts in any case. The only challenge I would see in the long term (in particular when extending it to other less specialized accounts) is that it might seem pretty repetitive after a while unless one crafts a custom message each time highlighting some of the content of the new issue - is that the plan? (Or include a such a custom headline in the newsletter itself, kind of like the Signpost's weekly Technology reports used to have.) FWIW, for the Wikimedia Highlights, I'm using the TOC for this purpose when posting on FB and G+.

The default message will be the same, but I'm indeed going to try to craft a custom message whenever possible.
I didn't post anything yesterday because... I forgot :) I've now added it to the Tech news publication manual ( https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/Manual ) and I'll start posting from @mediawiki next week.
Thanks for the feedback.

These look OK to me, although personally (more as a matter of taste) I would prefer to include a description of the content / scope in the tweet, too. E.g.:
This week's technical newsletter about software changes on Wikimedia sites, just out in 10+ languages:

I get the idea of opening with "Wikimedians" to clarify the audience, but the content description should do that too.
But again, your call ;)
